    Hey guys,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but i'm just curious what your answer is.

Since the new update from Google, penguin 4.0, it takes 2-3 times what it took before to rank a new site for me, and even than its not anywhere close to top 5 but rather top 20. Before the update came I was able to rank medium comp keywords within a month, with a GSA blast and a few PBN links. Now this does not work anymore ( for me atleast ) and I'm currently searching for a different way of ranking, without GSA and more like tiered building. Maybe you have some tips for the people that also struggle like me.

    Regards,

I don't about GSA but for PBNs it has seriously slowed down! Specially recently when new posts and pages tend to deindex after indexing and then reappear after a few days.

Even my PBN tests are not giving any results and they have been in tests for 15-20 days. So I am also confused about whats happening.

Although i haven't used these softwares. But i have seen that links getting the top rank on google by Google bombing. Not sure if you are using these methods but these methods are still in use.

Rather than the GSA tools, you can try to build the high-quality backlinks from the good authority sites which are relevant to your niche. It will definitely safe and help you the ranking.

You get a few % as soon as the link gets indexed, then after a month you get the big % boost, and it still increases through the 6~ month period.

Exactly what @LeanLow said. If you expect to rank within a month and keep blasting hundreds of links to a new site, you will get screwed. If you aren't patient enough and don't have necessary budget these days, don't even start with SEO and focus on some other IM venture. Otherwise you will just burn whatever money you have left and end up disappointed.

my 2 cents: of course it depends on many factors but I managed to rank medium-competition website (online store) for 1st and 2nd page (depending on keyword) from zero in about 6 months. I used seo service 3 times (3 x seo packages). maybe it helps someone to estimate time.
    regards

It takes me 2-3 months to rank new site. Just build quality links and you will rank faster.

Nope, I fully agree with Nargil. Quality/Strength are important, you don't (well, you shouldn't) start building links if you aren't sure you can rank high on page one for your main terms with your resources, but trying to speed up the process almost always ends with burning a domain before it ever ranks. Why force things? If you know that your strategy works and the site keeps ranking, there is no need to hurry and risk long term success.

From my experience, one of the main reasons why people fail at ranking sites, is impatience. They try to force things and break them by doing so. SEO isn't the right channel for the quick buck.

After the update it takes much longer, no question. Depending on the niche it can take 2-6 months. Also the google dance become longer and heavier - if I make a PBN link to my website the keywords are dancing like crazy. Going from 13th position to 60th position and stay there for one month. Before I made the experience that it took about 10-16 days until I saw some results of a PBN link. Now it takes up to 30-45 days. Thats what I can say with 15 money sites and 250 PBN sites.

But the real problem is the live algorithm (also depending on your niche and competitors) they will penalize the website after one/two months of ranking.

I have a couple new local sites (which I've posted about in my journey), and they seemed to have rank quick, probably due to not a ton of competition. But one started right at 60. I've only added 1-2 sites for these sites and they are jumping up within a few days of the link being added. Then I have an older local site I've been working on, and I've got it into the 30s with just basic stuff but now I can't get it to move. Added an okay PBN link, moves up a couple spots, drops back down. Added a decent metric sponsored link on another page, same thing. Added a paid link on pretty good authority site (that was cheap), same think. Just can't bust it into the 20s in beyond. Mind you it's only a few links, but they are decent quality and it's a bit frustrating that it's not moving very much. This is a paid client and I haven't moved his site out of the 30s in about 3 months now. And I want to save most my PBNs for myself lol.

It does take a lot of time these days. The time it takes to rank just keep on increasing after every Google update. The last site I ranked took 4 months to reach page 1. I tried everything I could and it was kind of stuck on page 3. Then I left the site and after a month, it reached page 1 on its own.

It now takes months of consistent link building to rank on the first page.

I can't speak on how it use to be due to the fact that this is my first site I'm ranking, but I've had my website since like Aug this year (It's a pbn I ordered). I ordered a seo package for it in September and it ranked around 60 and I just ordered another seo package for it last month before Thanksgiving and now it's ranking around 38-40. I'm going to get it another month and see what the rankings do before I do another seo package, but I honestly feel like my site should be doing a lot better than what it's doing now considering the guy in the number one stop only has 15 links.
