I have read of a lot of success in blogging with almost no linkbuilding, simply writing great articles on a regular basis. Many of these gurus and ninjas simply state to write great linkable content. But honestly, how long does it take to start seeing results in producing great content? Are they just talking out of their asses or is it true?

I have scheduled posts on one of my blogs, once a week for almost 4 months ahead of today, in addition to the months of weekly posts I have produced since.

Great content will get you far. But it will take time. There really is no magical number in my book.

There's really no average time span for this. Could be 2 months, could be 2 years. Great content WITH a proper keyword research will get you far.

Feel free to read IM journeys here in BHW, there are lots of tips you can get from those great threads.

That's what I figured. I'm just starting to see some positive results from some blog articles that I wrote more than 2 years ago, which is suggesting the stuff I write really needs to be evergreen, rather than news worthy.
