If you have a money making idea and you try it... if doesn't work as you thought, how long do you keep trying before give up?
I know everything requires time but there must be a moment you need to quit, well, when?

If the method promises instant results and I don't get instant results, I instantly give up.
If the method says that it takes time, I give it time, but I schedule reminders in my google calendar with direct links to the asset, and check if it did anything. If it did, I double down on the method. If it didn't - I give up.

It's not necessarily a time frame. Sometimes if you can't:

- Generate revenue to justify the upcost/overhead.
- Can't figure out a good twist to make the method work right.
- Too much manual work to justify the ROI.

It really just depends on how it's going and if I think I can do a little better or keep going.

That is why you don't work with 'methods'. Make a business plan, set goals and keep working till you achieve them. Businesses fail too, but there are processes, defined goals and realistic expectations with a business, you'll automatically know when to shut shop.

I will always remember the first sale from CPA. It was 3 AM and $30.

Was so excited and shocked that I had to wake up my wife to tell her about that.

It was after about 6 months of preparations and work, without any understanding if it will work or not.

But I had that feeling inside of me that this is it, this must work and be what I was looking to do for all my professional life.

To understand if you will succeed, ask yourself -

-- is my method scalable or there are limitations?
-- can I go global with it or its offline/local only?
-- can I automate or delegate it to someone?
-- is it dependent on something and risky?

To understand when to quit, you probably need to strictly look at the issues you are facing, can you overcome them? Are they complete disasters or just roadblocks?

You need to find your way to make money. It can take a while. One thing is important - don't marry the method. If it doesn't work don't push it too much. But don't give up too early. Actually, there is not a frame to follow. I am working on a project for last 4 years and still no results. I have o e more thing to try before I give up. This is a huge thing.

funny question from a 14 years member.

there is no such thing as giving up - I only do so-called "methods" that work, it is just that I have too much on my plate, so some projects may stay on the back-burner for a long time.

It is not fixed for all methods. With some methods you can get result next day. On the other hand, if you are doing something luke affiliate blog, it will take years to grow.

think it through before you give yourself into it. YOu have lots to consider.

Maybe a couple of months, depending on the effort I have to put in

It's an interesting and sometimes complex question. Perhaps some people fall into the "never give up" mentalitiy, although admirable, can waste time and resources... but when is the correct time to move on?

I think the correct time is when the "method" begins to have a detrimental affect on other aspects of your life, or simply becomes financially unsustainbale and subsequently restricts other opportunities you may have. If it drains all your money and time, you'll have an even greater task just getting back to where you started.

I never give up.

One time i was spamming people on Soundcloud DMs. Then Soundcloud sent me an email threatening lawsuits and to report me to my hosting provider and whatnot. Well, i stopped :D

But that was just a little spam "method", not like a "make money" method.

you can shorten the waiting time with Facebook ads of 3000$ it's 27k impressions (or 3000 unique clicks). or you can wait until you have 3000$ and not risk it before you have the 3000 dollars

you can make a credit card of 5000$ dollars and use it for publicity but it's risky if your product is not worth it

Well I've had hundreds of Reddit accounts wiped out and shadowbanned. I just keep making them, improving the process, reducing the ban rate. Last week I started my first course on ML by checking out Keras and TensorFlow :)
You gotta keep at it, but also keep learning along the way so you're not doing the same thing over and over.

For maybe a year... that's what I have seen the industry players do, even with products that work...

Its depend on the type of method. If it was supposed to work in short period, than spending one year on it is stupidity and waste of time.
