So I'm building backlinks to a brand new website (3 weeks old now ish) in a white hat only way. How long do you guys give links to work? I've seen some people say a week and I've seen some people say up to 6 weeks? Or is it when they're reported in Google webmaster tools?

Any input would be great :)

damn it fu*ked up the title lol, hopefully people can work out what I'm saying!

1 week if your link is indexed within 1 week
6 week if your link is indexed within 6 week

    Indexed backlink = Working backlink.

    That's what i know.

It takes 70 days for Google to completely evaluate the power of a single link. (that's according to Google algo patent). Of course, each link can affect ranking much faster, but for final algorithm "thoughts" it takes 70-ish days.

On the other side, I noticed that there is small update every 2 weeks (or so) in Google algo, when KWs go up or down.

That's really interesting, wonder why it takes that long though. Do you think it's just a processing power thing or maybe an anti spam thing?

Why should they do it faster it would cost more resources and it benefits Google Adwords, the longer the better for Google :ebay:

I'd of thought it's in their interest so they give the most accurate results in the quickest way possible. I can see the thought process there though...long gone are the days of "do no evil"

You will usually see results 2-7 days after the link is index.

Of course it can take longer but if its a good quality link (e.g web 2.0, PBN links) they work fast.

Yeah, I read about google patent. I have to say it's very difficult to say when each particular link kicks in.
but... for example... I tested a few seo packages from this forum and some links kick in within a few days whereas some kick in after 10-20 days but I never see any major movement after 70 days.
Actually, it's quite opposite, as we see sites start decreasing in seprs after a few months if they don't build more links.

Secondly, there's not such thing as building link white hat... building links is against google guidelines so it's not white hat.
Just say that you're building links without thousands of comments spam.

My clients usually see big bump two months after we end 3 months campaign (most used campaign) and results stay there. They dont go down. The goal of campaign is to both grow brand and boost rankings.
These two things combined result in organic links at the later time because they become trusted voice in their industries. This way they stay at the top and flying under the radar (as much as possible) when we are doing campaign keeps algo and manual penalties away.

Of course, I avoid working with fake sites, these are all real business that want more traffic and better rankings

Instead of either 1 or 6, allow 1 to 6+ weeks for final results.

People's responses are interesting here. I mean personally, if you aren't bumping up in google page rank after 1 - 2 weeks, I would look into it your back links and the quality of each of them.

I remember using XXXXX keyword one time, with maybe over 2 million search results (Obviously this is a factor, but I am assuming you know that). End of the week I was top ranked. So just an opinion and an example. Good luck.

It depends on were the links are if you have 1 high power link from a popular website you will get organic traffic near instantaneously.

Normal low quality links take longer. There is not one clear cut answer to this.
