How long do you expect backlinks purchased in BST to stay alive?

Was just going through my email and looked at a report for some blog posts I ordered 9 months ago. I didn't really expect ALL 30 sites to be gone. None of the links work and I was just kinda upset that I paid a lot of money for these backlinks only for them to be completely gone. I don't know when they were deleted actually, could've been earlier than when I checked, but should shit like this be expected? I don't purchase much SEO so I don't really know if this is to be expected or if its common. If I want this to be avoided, should I just stick with monthly subscription blog posts or is this provider just one bad apple?

The site was a churn and burn so I'm not really upset, but for a longer term site (more than 1 year), this could be a problem.

Their network probably got busted and the links were worthless anyway.

I see people invest $10k into a PBN then use Gmail for sales. It's like begging for a penalty.

I think its incumbent upon buyers to ask important questions of the sellers, before ordering.

If the life of the link is important, ask the seller. It's not reasonable that a link would stay alive 'forever', but I would even think that 9 months from a 'permanent' BST-sold link is quite fair...

I can't say enough, though - don't spend money with sellers; invest money instead in your own network! Sure, it's a slower ramp up if your capital is limited, however, the payoff is significantly multiplied, and compounded by the fact that you have total security and control over your link sources. That, to me, is worth a time premium.

Their TOS actually say all your emails are open game, they're allowed to scan them whenever they like, for any purpose.

I've had similar incidents, I recently bought some back links, for cheap (fivver) anyways, I checked out some of the links and one was linked to a NASA website..... (my website has nothing to do with nasa or space), anyways I assume the guy had to hack it or do some sort of black hat coding to get it there. the website doesn't load... but the link is there.
