I started a campaign to fish for people with high quality blogs related to my sites. These are good sites that don't typically sell links. I'm paying about $50-100 per post in hopes of getting my sites bumped up from page 2-3 to page one and some sites ranked on #5-10 to #1-5. How many links do you guys usually need from PA-DA sites in the 25-50 range for smaller keywords with 500-1000 searches a month?

How long do these links take to kick in? I'm not seeing much movement yet, I noticed these kind of links would work much quicker before. These sites are all high quality with good optimization and several years old that are simply lacking linking power.

Give it time. What you described there should be more than enough to rank your keywords if your onsite SEO is at least half decent. Give it a month or two, let it age, don't overdo it with velocity.

I 've noticed that boosts from guest posts are taking 2 - 3 months to kick in. Just keep building a steady stream of links and be patient.

The amount of links you need will depend on the competition of the keywords, how many links do the sites on page 1 have?

It depends on the keywords. According to moz as little as 2-3 and some have hundreds (but not that great of links). I actually have multiple sites for each keyword so I'm spreading the links I receive out for that keyword to prevent myself from getting too many links too fast.

Thanks for the info, both comments are great info and exactly what I was hoping to hear.

What do you see in the Ahrefs KD results ?

These types of posts can kick in quickly, depending on traffic. I've seen some which have decent DA, average PA but have almost no traffic.

I just checked the semrush keyword difficulty and all the keywords i checked were ranked near 50%. Many of the sites are exact match domains, several years old minimum, responsive designs, fast scores on google pagespeed, and unique content written by american writers.

It’s pretty difficult to answer to this question. There are many factors that go into calculating your SERP like niche, keyword competition, content, authority, trust flow, traffic etc..
