I've heard if a buy from backlink packages, they give a ranking increase but it is temporary. This sounds good for churn and burn sites. How long does the ranking boost last?

It depends on the types of links you buy.

If you're buying thousands of automated junk, then churn and burn is the way to go .

Buy quality over quantity.

If you buy quality links, they will last forever. Don’t buy low DA backlinks.

Yes, most of the backlinks provide temporary rankings.
If you make thousands of GSA links then traffic will be huge at time within 1-10 days of link creation. They won't last long. However if your on-page SEO and content is good you can expect to get rankings long term and some traffic that will for a long time.

As you have mentioned particularly low DA backlinks , Rankboost depends on other facts like age the of the domain,RD,no of OBL of the blogs from which we getting links.

And the number of months rankboost lasts is obviously not a fixed one. It varies by lot of factors.

Better go with quality backlinks by considering all the metrics.

There is a difference about one time paid links and rented ones.
First ones may disappear, the second ones stick as long as you keep paying the rent.

Depends on the type of backlink. If its a guest post or niche edit the seller usually will replace it within a certain time. For cheap packages with thousands of links for a few bucks then the drop rate is higher.
