How long did it take you to outrank a aged domain?

    i thought id open a thread on this as im quite curious and im sure a few other people will benfit to :D

    so lets say your domain is fairly new but has more backlinks than your competitor who has a 2 year old site its just as well optimized if not better then his for the same keywords how long will/did it take you to outrank him in serps?

    i think there are too many factors to consider, like the niche and keyword competition for an exact answer on time, but it took me around 4 months to outrank my biggest competitor a movie site for a keyword with 1.8 million results.

    it will also depend on how proactive they are in their own link building, if id their going to just sit around thinking their site cant be outranked.
