How I've been Making Money the Last 6 Months and Why I Have Been MIA from BHW

As most of you who follow my ventures are aware, I haven't been on BHW in quite some time. I haven't done more than browse the home page for a few minutes in over 6 months. But there is a very good reason for this. I most certainly don't discourage reading and reading, and then reading some more before reading some more of BHW. I did that for years. But I have been focusing 100% of my energy on my latest project and I have finally finished it!

I have been doing nearly 18 hour days for over 6 months straight. No weekends off, running on about 2-3 hours of sleep a night. I am making this post to simply say to all the unsuccessful IMers out there, both noob and veteran, that there is no substitute for hard work. There is no "quick buck" in IM. You have to work harder than the next guy.

For those of you who don't know who I am, as my title would suggest, I have moved all of my IM efforts to the mobile arena. I have by a great margin, had more success with mobile marketing than any other method out there by at least a factor of ten.

To be truly successful in IM, you have to be truly innovative. Think of something that no one else has thought of, learn how to do it, put it together, and then market it. This is why here at BHW we are a cut above the rest. We are not only marketers, but thinkers and businessmen.

Anyways, I guess I just wanted to say that I'm back now that I have completed my project, and will be participating once again in the forum that has given me so much!! I just couldn't afford to spend one ounce of energy on something other than my current projects.

Oh, almost forgot, links to the new project! I just released yesterday so not much action as of yet. But I'm sure you can tell from the product that it's a home run.

    App #1

    App #2

App #3 <---- my personal favorite out of the three

As always, I am happy to receive PM's and skype questions about the mobile market. Feel free to contact me for a leg up!

    Thanks,

Now that is a whole lot of work. Congrats to you for being able to grind so many hours away like that. My question to you is, are you outsourcing the development of these apps? If so, which aspects?

You inspire me to work much harder than I do. Appreciate the reply.

I worked on one of 3d game project before so I know that it all takes a hell lot of work. I Hope your hard work gonna pay off OP. Presentation video looks a bit shaky and lq tho :)

btw how much battery life your app drains? Once again congratz on finishing your project, wish you can bring something similar to iOS platform :)

I used to outsource my work, but I could never get it quite right. You know the old saying, "If you want something done right, do it yourself". I could outsource some code if I wanted to, but I enjoy playing around with it. But I would never outsource the 3D design.

Haha, yea I know my videos are shitty. I'm not much for public presentation. I will probably have them re-made eventually. In all honesty I did those videos at like 4am while I was drunk because it was the last step before hitting the publish button. My apps only drain about 1% of total battery consumption. Which honestly, I view as a greater achievement than the apps themselves.

Haha thanks! Consulting is still my bread and butter when I need a steady income. It paid for my 6 months of work on these apps.

When you run out of meth I'll hook you up. lol jk

Kickass apps, I like the 3'rd one myself. I'm seeing a lot of will power on the boards recently, it sure is nice to see hard working people again.

Hahahaha. Lots of coffee my friend. Yea BHW was getting fairly "get rich quick" style for a while there. Quality always wins. Yea 3rd one is my favorite by far. Gonna push out a few more over the next few months, but I'm taking at least a month off before Christmas.

Tips are always the same repeated old phrases. Just gotta get on it and get it done. There's 1,000's of threads on it here. Not sure where the consulting thread is. Would have to find it. I don't start many threads so you should be able to find it easily.

    Very Nice looking wallpaper OP!!!

What are you doing and using to monetize these apps?
I know the "normal" ad channels, but what is best way (in your opinion) to monetize a live wallpaper app?

    THANKS
    Wylie

EDIT: DUH!!! I now see you can purchase the PRO version....sorry for muddling posts with Stupid questions !!!!

props for invested time and good luck buddy with apps+whatever you do.

tho when i saw unity logo i was like ehh :) (not fan of unity engine have made around 5-7 quick games on it is ok for learning but yeah)

p.s you ideas are good but how about instead of world/city/castle whatever - try to create "strip bar model" and name it "live (manga) strip bar wallpapper"... right advertising for manga fans and your app will sky rocket.. (of course accepting all terms etc no nudes included :D only in pro version)

No question is stupid! Monetizing wallpapers is very challenging. Thus the lack of quality ones out there. But this lack of quality has created a nice vacuum for me to fill.

Very impressive wallpapers - it's clear you have put a lot of work into them.

I'll be interested to see how you do with sales, but I'm sure they will do great.

You mentioned you coded them up in a way to minimize battery usage - is there anything patentable in what you did? I ask, because if so, you have more options available for monetisation.

Don't share your twists like that here! Keep them to yourself! Also, have you heard they have made Unreal Engine4 and CryEngine available to the public for a subscription fee? I'm switching over to CryEngine myself.

CryEngine? Don't do that. Closed source, small community, tons of issues. I would personally stay with Unity.
