Are .info currently discredited by google for US searches? Or are they still worthy to invest in?

No, .info is treated as normal as other domain extensions.

I used to think that .info extensions are blacklisted by Google as most spam sites uses that.
I asked in BHW before, there's a member here whom said he ranks several sites well using .info.
Curious, I tried it personally for a product review site.

And guess what? It's in the first position as we speak and it's raking in moolahs ;)

I honestly hate .info domains. I would say try to use .com .org or .net for your projects.

May I ask why you hate .infos? I'm a bit hesitant to start using them as well but there are some nice .info domains that I'd like to start developing.

Anyone have experience ranking .infos in search engines other than google.com, for example google.fr or google.de, what I mean to ask is does google have a specific preference where .info sites are ranked?

    Thanks

I think the domain extension doesn't matter. It all comes down to good on page optimization, quality links and quality content...a crappy site will rank crappy regardless of a .com, .info, .net, etc...and a great site will rank nice regardless of the extension. Build a great site no matter what and you will be fine.

I am really not sure if all these Seomoz info are true. They do not do blackhat. I cannot imagine any Seomoz member getting a .info domain, to build a $1000 000 worth corporate site.

This? I don't agree with this completely.

Do you think SEOmoz does these case studies with 100s of niches before giving you all these info?

I have done most of the things opposite to that this report has said.

Ranked a .info domain and .mobi domain.
Agree with the 2-4 words, cos you can have a sentence in a domain and more than 4 words can make a sentence.
Do you really want your brand site on a keyword domain? I don't want really.

Don't go with what every you read.

Try something according to your wish.

If everyone follows everything, exactly same, then it'll be easy for Big G to release 1 or 2 updates every month.

I don't think it's worthless to bring this up.

There still many people who thing only .com/.org/.net are the real domains.

I can tell you the same now, fu**ing stop shouting like this to increase your post count, if you don't want to learn.

What's the point of ranking .info or .mobi domain ? Did you buy aged .info and then ranked it ? I don't see any reason why would anyone chose to buy .info instead of .com / .net .

I purchased a new domain on a product and I made it a info site on the product, rather than going with .com/.net and making it a review, scam site.

Depending on how you take it, not what you take.

Donkeys can climb a hill with their back full, but people still prefer riding horses.

Not discriminating any animal or any person, but just saying both have the ability to carry the load, but you should know where to load what.
