All of them use for delivery smtp server, configure of smtp server more important than type of your mailer.
Imho: desktop mailer have more settings for delivery.

You gave me a good idea. I wanted to start building a list. it would be cool to cut down some expenses and make some tests.

The library should allow you to send HTML emails. In this way, you can use your own email server (offered by any hosting provider) to send emails rather than relying on a solution like Aweber.

Of course, it will require much more work, but it's a good idea to cut some expenses until you will grow your email list up to 2-3k contacts for starting your campaigns.

I will look into it. Right now I am focused on Twitter for generating leads.
