I am planing to buy a new domain for one of my products and of course all the best names are already taken for the .com top-level domain. I have read a lot of case studies recently from a lot of people concerning the TLD and they all have different opinions on the matter. Some say that the LTD is not that important while some say that it's extremely important.

After all I have read I am currently leaning to thr side that it's more important to have your keywords in the domain than a .com top-level domain but I'm not sure. What do you guys think? Is it harder to rank site with a .nu domain for example than a .com domain? (I will target English speaking countries).

Always go for a .com website if possible. People associate it easier with a website and it's easier to create a marketing campaign around its name. As for the exact match domain, it doesn't matter anymore for google. It was effective back in 2010-2012 but with the new algorithm, it's gone.
