This is my overview for the last month. My bounce rate is almost 90% which seems very high to me. Most of my traffic is from people searching for one specific thing like: "Best blah blah for blah". Which I assume means they find their answer and click off the page? I really don't know much about bounce rate to be honest so I wanted to see what you guys think. Does it matter for ranking? And if so how can I reduce it?

Bounce rate is a part of on page seo, Google use bounce rate info to determine whether your content is useful to visitors, if you want to apply for adsense, this is quite important.
Other than that, you mean your target keyword results in 89% bounce rate? I'm not sure whether this will affect ranking but i think you should provide unique and relevant content to the targeted keyword. Make your visitors into customers by giving them good and relevant info to the targeted keyword

Bounce rate alone will not influence your rankings; although a high bounce rate may indicate poor quality, greater context is needed to infer content quality from bounce rate- this is due to the technical definition of bounce rate and the fact that there are many cases where high bounce rate does NOT correlate with poor content quality.

"Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits (or web sessions); It is the number of visits in which a person leaves your website from the landing page without browsing any further."

In many cases, having a high bounce rate is completely acceptable and does indicate poor content (ie: if your page is a blog post, a video that exceeds googles standard session timeout of 30 minutes, etc.) More context is needed to make accurate inferences regarding data quality so google does NOT penalize rankings based on bounce rate alone.

TLDR; if your page has a high bounce rate but has good content, I don't think you should worry about the bounce rate effecting your SEO or rankings. Google is smarter than that.

Google won't necessarily know bounce rate will they. I think high bounce rate is normal as above.

BUT focus more on two other things-

    1.time on site
2.are visitors finding what they want?

I'm sure google uses 1 to determine 2. So you want to make sure your page is highly relevant for your main search term and even if visitors are bouncing or leaving fast, they found what they were looking for.

As I see it, high bounce rate is a problem specially when a user got out of your site and then kept checking other results. It says to Google that the users didn't get their answers.

Bounce rate decreases when a visitor visits more than one page. Bounce rate increases when a visitor visits only one page and then leave the site. Bounce rate tells u how many percentage of the visitor visited only one page.

High bounce rate can be good and bad:

Good: The visitor got what he was searching for, so he did not have to visit another page.
Bad: The visitor did not get what he was searching for, so he had to leave the site.

Now, if the time spent/visitor is good enough to get the info he was looking for, then it is good. Check the page/site - are there really enough info that the visitor can get in that time?

Improve the quality of your content or things you used on your site. Your content should engage people to spend maximum time on your site and your bounce rate will be less this way!

I think there are no more worries if you have known very well about how to reducing the bounce rate. Keep adding the interesting contents to your visitors and make them visible more time on your website. Good internal linking structure also help you.

I guess reducing your bounce rate is important, especially when it comes to user experience. Whenever visitors didn't find your website useful, they bounce fast and go for another search in Google. So in able to reduce your bounce rate, make sure to post only useful and relevant content to your target audience, make your site beautiful, fast, easy to navigate, and mobile friendly. The longer your visitors stay on your website the higher the chance it'll rank better.

I think 90% bounce rate is pretty bad.
Especially when coupled with low session timings.

    A few possible reasons:

    1. Visitor comes to your site and quickly realise that this is not what he or she wants to read, and thus click the "back" button. That remaining 10% might all be your own activity on the site.

    2. Visitor does not trust your content by looking at your site. Therefore visitor does not even have interest to look at other pages of your website, before clicking on the "back" button.

    3. Your page may have some errors or display problems that you may not have noticed. Sometimes you may have used some plugins that cause display errors when using other browsers. These errors cause your visitors to click the back button immediately.
Use a different browser or device to access your website to check that your page is displaying properly.

In conclusion, the focus should be on your website quality.
Low bounce rate is just a natural by-product.
To be honest, among all sites that i have handled, i have not even come close to 80% bounce rate.
Focus on the quality experience of navigating your site.

I am not 100% sure whether bounce rate affects ranking. But it indeed is screaming out to you that there are potential problems with your page/site.

The first thing is your landing page is not good or attractive.
customize the landing page as what your viewers want
dont stuff too much information in one page
    check page load speed
As a high bounce rate is considered a measure of your site’s ineffectiveness, you need to improve the content and usability of your sites pages. If you can lower your bounce rate marginally with improved content and usability, you will witness a substantial improvement in conversion rates and attract more visitors
you can get quality content in hirewriters domain for 4$.
