I have a new commercial site. Lots of keywords, no blog.

Should I add a weekly unique blog to increase SEO? Then use techniques to link to the blog?

Or if I create enough backlinks (using services advertised on this site) is that enough? Thx.

Basically the blog will help you to drive traffic to your website and if you will get good traffic with a good bounce rate there are so many chance your keywords serp will increase.

Having a blog for your business site is pretty much mandatory, mate! That is also the easiest way to get content indexed on your site. We have a service on rankgeek.com called Blog Management. Check it out. Could be useful.

I don't think I'll get much traffic because of the blog. I only thought it could increase my SEO with keywords and links.

    In2012,

Having a blog attached to your commercial site really serves a variety of purposes. It will help with your SEO because you can target specific keywords and search engines like fresh unique content. It is also an opportunity to target more keywords than you otherwise could have because you are essentially expanding your website each time you post.

As mentioned by the other member, it will also help drive traffic to your site assuming you configure your posts and pages properly. Blogs can also help convert traffic for a commercial site. For instance many internet users are in an information search phase. As a business, if you can provide useful content to visitors, you can help move them along in their buying process. They will also remember you as an authority on the products or services that you write about. Just remember to be helpful and not spammy.

Here are some other tips on why blogs are important for businesses,

This post talks about blogs engaging your visitors and turning them into customers,

    Hope that helps,

I add a blog to all of my clients sites, and it does help with rank and traffic. So the answer is simply 'Yes'.

Rankgeek, on another forum they advised against you because you are not number 1 on google for your own site?

I think you should add blogposts atleast once in a 2 days. This will help in generating a lot of traffic to your site.

That depends on the kind of the website you have, and the purpose. For many clients, I recommend a blog and regular posts but for some, it doesn't serve a purpose and hence I don't recommend it.

If the aim is to get traffic to signups, etc. I'd rather write content for guest posts for the best blogs in the niche and get that traffic (and pay more attention to that, while having a blog of my own).

    Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the mention. A lot of our clients have amazing blogs that are pulling in thousands of visitors. Our own blog attracts a lot of Joomla-related traffic and small business social media traffic. So yeah, I'm a big fan of blogging so long as you have knowledge to share and are answering questions or solving problems for other people out there.

Consistently adding pages helps with relevance and improving trust as well. You can never go wrong with additional content, pretty much.
