For example, if I can get hold of a site with a 10 letter name like bluerabbit.com with PR3, is it worth going for it ?

I mean it's not like coolgoose or cooltoad had anything to do with music before the sites were made. Is it realistic to think that I can make it synonymous with a product (eg. bluerabbit & weightloss) ?

I don't recommend random domain names, especially for your first website to make some cash.

Get a keyword oriented domain name, since it gives you an SEO edge.

So if you are going for "weight loss" your domain can be weightlosssite.com or weightlosstipsdaily.com etc.

Man... I was hoping to cash in on a short(ish) domain name and 3yr old site (along with the PR) :(

If you want to create a website on a very competitive niche as weight loss, you MUST use all the stuff you can in order to rank (domain, meta keywords, long tail keywords), and believe me bluerabbit will not help you at all.

I had been thinking along the lines of sites with names like Google that have no relation to search engines, or cool toad that has no relation to music.
