How important do you believe self discipline is in order to succeed in IM? It clearly takes a lot more discipline than regular dayjob since there is no boss looking over the sholder, but how has it been for you? This question is more oriented to the members making a living off IM :)

Why didn't you just ask, how important is having a pc and the internet been in your IM.

    Its practically the same thing.

I used to spend lots of time, when I first started out researching and studying self motivation. But i've since learnt that your better of just doing 2 things.

    1. Working
    2. Improving your working

If you spend most of your days doing that, you'll find self discipline becomes a product, not a requirement.

Plus if you set a decent sized income goal, and set the timescale relatively short, you will feel the urge to get busy.

Very true.! Self discipline is very important is you want to succeed in any business. Dayjob doesn't ask for much as you are forced for it anyway. But in business you have to push yourself to limits sometimes to get the work done and not to forget procrastination which is even more tough to tackle.

You need a lot more self discipline when it comes to IM.
I find that the greater the self control the higher your earnings. its directly proportional.

I will not be hypocrite and tell you guys i am very discipline with my IM as i am too were not so discipline after all.

For me and i assume for almost anybody have and had to have a social life, there are more important things in life, like our family and the time we give for them (especially for the married ones) if we neglect them it could lead to our fear and that is separation for having fewer or no time at all for them.

I know all of us try to split ourselves both physically and mentally just to cope up with our family and business, its hard and often think that they had to understand that since what we are doing are for them.

Time management comes a great weapon for having discipline.

We all try to squeeze-in all the time just to be ahead in-order to achieve our IM goals more nearer. We are doing this aside from ourselves, passion but also for them, to give them a finer life.

Well, that's it for now, Good luck on us in trying to get the utmost discipline to achieve success!

    Cheers :D

Very important I feel. I work m-f at a regular job so have to try and manage my time well. Didn't go so well this sunday as I just ended up looking at cat videos all day on reddit.

HAHAH classic line about that cat videos. They are sooo fecking dangerous to get started one. A crack head has more self control than someone watching cat videos.

Self Discipline is necessary in life and business. Without it not only can you make poor decisions but other people
control you. Think of it this way "If you cannot control yourself then someone else will control you, for you"

Here Dog is used just as a metaphor. Actually, it's meant for humans only. If we wish to grow and succeed in not only business but life as a whole, then each one of us should be see ourselves in the place of this dog, .

A lot of great ideas and perspectives you point out guys!
The reason I started this thread is because I recently red "The Practicing Mind - Developing Focus and Discipline in Your Life" eBook that was only about 100 pages, but changed the way I see work and any other "booring" activity. I recommend it a lot, shoot me a PM if you want a download link. It was very hard to steal this ebook.

Edit: Here is the download link - http://www.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1361196877
