I'm in a bit of a dilemma now. I run a Bangkok expat website which you can find it here. I would like to break into the Singapore market now and plan to launch an expat website in Singapore, similar to my Thailand expat website. Unfortunately, the domain I wanted - singaporeexpats.com is taken and I've bought ads space from there before. It's ridiculous, they are charging $3,000 SGD for just a small banner on the right column. The Singapore market is extremely lucrative because of a high internet penetration in that overpopulated city, not to mention it's one of the richest countries in the world. For some strange reason, they also seem to have an inflated value on anything related to the internet. I've just bought lioncityexpats.com and I'm thinking of getting singaporeexpatslife.com, to replicate my current business model in Thailand, but here's the dilemma. Lioncityexpats sounds like a cool/awesome domain and its very brandable with the name Lion, as I always wanted to have a lion for a logo lol. For anyone who don't know, Lion City is kind of like a nick-name for Singapore. Singapore is known as the Lion City/Garden City/Little Red Dot etc. But, looking at how minimal work I've done for Bangkok Expat Life since I acquired the site, yet its growing decent traffic, I'm thinking that keywords in a domain is very important for SEO. I'd like some insights and advice from BHwers whether I should go for lioncityexpats or singaporelifeexpats? I really like lioncityexpats but singaporelifeexpats seems much more relevant and better for SEO in the long run? Also could be easier for people to remember. What would you do if you were in my position?
