How I Use IFTTT To Make ORM Easier

Let me preface this by saying that I don't use 7878's method. It's a solid method, but is three and a half years old now and highly saturated in most markets. I work with individuals with a bad reputation online, and help them fix their negative Google results by drowning them in the positive. These are big fish with bad press in some big places.

I have begun using IFTTT as a nice, customizeable way to automate updates across social networks. This is one of my first posts so I can't put links up yet, but here are some of the recipes that I have been using often and work well:

I've got quite a few more, but that's my current hub for Twitter. What does it mean? If I post an image via my client to their Twitter, it will shoot it out to 500px, Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, Blogspot, Wordpress, two subreddits, Tumblr, and bookmark through Delicious and Diigo. If it's a text update, it will take out Flickr, Instagram, and 500px and replace it with LinkedIn. If it's a video upload, it will upload it to YouTube, DailyMotion, and Vimeo.

This will surely expand as more channels are added to IFTTT, but it sure is nice having it all on autopilot... for free.

Doesn't you or your client care about that it'll look automated? I always take the time to post on every network individual, use the right tonality, etc. maybe it's not neccessary and i'm kind of getting tired of it.

but i don't really know what i should think of your method. but nevertheless thanks for the input

My clients wouldn't mind if it looked automated.

Do you find the IFTTT works all the time? I can't seem to get it to work consistently. I have a lot of accounts set up and it works about 50-75% of the time in my experience.

All the better. Then every channel doesn't have identical content/links.

What's good about an inconsistent trigger percentage is that it makes the accounts seem independent of one another. I can also add snippets to the recipe.

For example, say the Twitter says: "Sure is a nice day out!"

I can set the trigger for the Blogger to say "Sure is a nice day out! [INSERT SALUTATION HERE]".

But yeah, IFTTT does have some faulty pushes depending on the channel. I've got one recipe on my personal account that texts me the weather at sunrise every morning. Three months, hasn't missed a day.

Meanwhile one of the above triggers is at like 30% success.

I totally agree that if it worked 50-75% of the time that would be great. What I meant was that 50-75% of the time it actually gets set up and runs at all. In my experience about half of the things I set up, never work. I usually try to get one or two to work and am happy with that, but it often takes more work than it should. Guess I shouldn't complain about a free service.

I've been noticing a low success rate with Iffft as well recently, when I was using it for autoblogging (over a year ago) I was getting a near-100% execution rate...

Thanks for the tip. I can see how this would be useful to clients with a lot of negative results online.

What's the link for this IFTTT recipe?

Instagram doesn't offer write access to the public api media endpoint...
