When your into article marketing seriousely, every second counts if your going to be successful. I mean the difference between making 20/wk and pocketing 150/day.
If A*C is your meal ticket why leave the sight to find niches? If you think about it, it doesn't make sense, not to me anyway.
A*C wants unique content, so let THEM tell you what they want and I don't mean by accepting "Daily Calls" on their site.
Here is what works for me:
-Do a search for a topic, any topic on A*C, don't sign in.
-Read through the titles and narrow down your niche.
Lets use an example of bird watching, 1455 articles as of 12-13-08, obviously way to broad and you may get performance only pay if you submitted "bird watching".
So, read the titles of other authors articles in the niche and see if something "pops", you may also try narrowing your niche by clicking an article link and when the article comes up, to the left of article you will see - "You may also like..." these could be sources for more ideas.
Anyhow, reading article titles and this is only an example, I see:
"bird watching vacations" so I go to Google do a search with quotes - exact match 6,110 - nice, low competition.
So I typed bird watching vacations in A*C search - 34 results and just skimming I didn't see but 1 article about bird watching vacations.
-Now I typed "bird watching vacations" in A*C search - no results???
BINGO
I went to Micro*Niche*Finder (M*NF), did a search - gave me results with parameters I set, recommended soc for each
keyword, adword $, etc and these keywords came back
Now I been wrong 100 times in niche research and A*C, but I been right a 1,000 times, I think a well written article would bring back a satisfactory amount, especially if you tied it in with valentines day as a gift.
Now I am doing a quick case study, example or what ever you call it. So I am not saying these keywords are good, but it's a start.
From these keywords, I would refine my keyword list; send the keywords to my writers and the next day I've got an article.
Now do this 75 times a day, easier than you think when you get a system down, (but not easy) and eventually you'll ave 150/day your take.
Of course you could use this method for niches and go big (forgetting a*c's meager pay).
BTW - feel free to use this info to write an article as I did the research in about 5 minutes.

Here are a few keywords from M*NF and if I were
going after this article subject I would expand and drill down.
