Got it. I look for 800k - 1.2m audience sizes as well. What kind of ads work well? PUR?

I am not sure where I would be able to get free traffic that converts into purchases for a general dropshipping store. Could you help me with some advice? My $2000 spend includes hosting fees, shopify fees, a few SEO services, and primarily on Facebook advertisement (I've even tried Page Likes campaign for tv show niche + PoD t-shirts, didn't convert well).

I meant how much did you earn with the $2000 penny?

"Failure" is only a mindset. Use everything to learn and grow from, seriously. As cheesy as it sounds, the majority of projects we start in internet marketing won't be the million dollar startups. Sometimes you have to work on a handful of different projects until that one really takes off. I read a post on here once and saved it in sublime text, I reread it every now and then to remind myself (wish I could remember who said this, to quote them properly) -

    1. Don't trust anybody with your money or your method.

    2. Scale your shit until the wheels fall off.

    3. Accept the fact that blackhat methods won't stay around for long (hence item 1 and 2)

    4. Form a strategy which allows you make enough money to "retire" until the next big project comes (months or years).

    5. Staying in this game requires persistence beyond a couple projects failing, so embrace failing.

That's what I'm learning to do right now. Combine it with #2

and I think that's the main recipe for success :)

    Thanks for your advice

I've genuinely never thought of that. Great approach for what OP and myself are going through (though I probably know half as much and have half as much experience as OP).

Do most stores (typical shopify dropshipping) offer affiliate programs?

Your join date tells otherwise ;) also +1, looking for affiliate dropshipping stores. Or any affiliate stores, really. I'm sure I could bring some money given my marketing knowledge.

My join date doesn't mean much, mate. Like yourself, "I'm an unmotivated & lazy asshole" and it's what probably describes me best. I find that my problem isn't thinking I'm going to make a million with doing nothing, it's more applying myself for a period after the excitement declines when starting a new project. I have a couple handfuls of azon niche sites that generate revenue (not enough to replace a full time income). But again, like you said, it's sticking to it and getting motivation to put the time in to scale each venture before moving on.

Maybe this is a stupid question and I'll put it to OP and everyone else. Say you gain traction for a successful store as an affiliate, would asking the owner for their campaign information on the ads they run not work? Or would it not make a difference as each ad can vary so much?

I made a sale! $25 product sold after starting with FB PUR ads :")

Didn't schedule hours properly for adding products, only was able to add two of them. Testing a slightly different style of products, maybe my audience will respond better.

Hope sales become a regular part of my life soon :)

I have the same fault. I have often managed to get ~$100-200 from a blackhat method. When the method is patched (or I simply encounter a hurdle), I give up and move on. I now try to set goals for every project, and do not give up unless I either achieve my goal or gain a very clear understanding of what I did wrong. Scaling is key.

From my experience, the reason this happens is because I tend to underestimate the amount of time/effort required for a particular method. It then makes me stop at the first sign of trouble. It seems like every blackhat method has it's own set of "gotchas" and there's always innovation, hard work, and out-of-the-box thinking required: which gets pretty tiring for sure. Regular failure has taught me that it's just part of the game, though :)

Dont bother about the payout, the idea is to learn how to setup successfull traffic campaigns, you make the money later down the line with your own store. So be happy if you break even.

There are 2 ways you can find affiliate programs.

1 join the big boys like cj.com and see what they offer
2 choose a big site that covers a niche that interests you, they will tell you where their affiliate program is setup and how to join.

The only parameter is make sure you can source similar products else you wont be able to set up your own store later down the line.

Whichever option you pick it is important to chose a big store you can pump the details into similarweb to get the data where they get their traffic from.

Just copy the traffic strategies. Optimize the campaign, make sure it is profitable. At which time build your own niche site and send the traffic there. Then you make good money if you sourced well.

Copying and niching down on a store which is successful and making big $ is about the laziest way i know to build a successful store of your own.

My tip is you must understand your customer, what is your niche? Its depend on your niche to find out the best strat for your traffic. Someone have good ROI with influencer, someone have good ROI with FB ads.
And the most important thing that is Retartget ads. You must always run retarget ads. iTs cheap and have unbelievable ROI.

PUR ads = Conversion ads on Facebook with "Website Purchase" as their goal
