So I have been reading this forum for so long and have implemented so many helpful ideas that I feel its time to give back a little, not only that but also want to boost my rep a bit on here and get some ideas from you guys :)

So I have made some pretty decent money online for the past 9-10+ months and I will tell you how

Now you have all heard about sites such as ViralNova, upworthy etc... You have probably already tried to replicate their success but failed as I also failed trying to get posts to go viral which ended up costing me more money then I was earning I have been doing this for around 18 months now.

Then I decided to get into the arbitrage game a little and test things out and I started earning from day 1. Below is a breakdown of the steps I took

    Step 1
Register and domain I wont give mine away but it was called Buzz....... This way I can post anything interesting in multiple topics.

    Step 2
Find a decent wordpress theme, chuck a logo up on it from fiverr or if you have the funds or knowledge customize the look and feel a little.

    Step 3
Now you need to add content, I would recommend adding at least 50 posts. Now don't just pinch other people's content as you may get into trouble with ad networks etc. Go look at buzzfeed, viralnova and get ideas from them and rewrite the posts or hire a writer from freelancer.com theres plenty around.

    Step 4
Now you have your site up and content created, its time to put some ads up so you can earn money. I have had the best success from Adsense, Taboola, propellerads, infolinks - Now there are plenty more networks out there so you can play around with this a little.

    Step 5
Now we have to drive traffic to the site and get people clicking on the ads, I have spent ALOT of money testing which networks work and which do not and below are the ones I really recommend to get a positive ROI. This is a game of arbitrage buying traffic and then earning more from ads.

    Facebook Ads
Facebook ads can be quite pricey and whether or not a post goes viral is just pure luck. However I use FB ads to water down the traffic a little as some network especially adsense only like traffic from the big players. I do not spend a lot of this just boost posts once in a while. When I initially started I spent a lot of time trying to get traffic from facebook like viralnova and the other big players but I believe this is now over saturated.

    Gravity.com
Gravity is similar to Taboola and outbrain but the only difference is that its ALOT cheaper, your posts get syndicated on sites like AOL and I have gotten some good clicks for around $0.01 for USA and UK traffic something thats impossible with taboola, however it is quite hard to monetize those clicks even at that low price and earn big as an example for every $50 I was earning about $70 through ads (Not bad but not hugely impressive, however I am sure this can be increased with better positioning of ads etc etc), but again especially if you are using adsense then gravity is a well respected source.

    AdLatitude.com
So this site is not as high quality as facebook and gravity ads however I get a super ROI with these guys especially for USA traffic and account setup is super quick unlike gravity. I usually bid on dropped clicks and get them for around $0.0008 per visitor. They do also have IAS filtered traffic to make sure every visitor is 100% legit, I do use that but its a little more expensive so my ROI drops a little. I create multiple campaigns on here pointing to the post pages so most posts get traffic and promoted.

    DTNX.com
This is another cheap traffic source that gets quite good ROI the traffic on this network is mainly from domains and redirects, obviously the higher you bid the more traffic you get. There support is excellent and I also do a similar method of promoting individual posts rather then directing all of the traffic to the homepage.

    Step 6
Now that you have a nice flow of traffic coming in I also have dabbled in content exchanges so I used traffic from AdLatitude.com to get clicks on Crowdignite, for every click you send them they send 3-4 visitors back. However this did slightly lower revenues for some reason. A twist on this is using zergnet.com so if you decide to create a viral site around movies or celebs then you can send USA traffic to zergnet via some of the lower CPC platforms and zergnet send back much more traffic then crowdignite. This is another site I am planning to do in the next couple of months.

So over the past year I have earned really well with the above arbitrage model. I have consistently been paid out, I did get one adsense account banned after around 4 months of payments however I just purchased another one off of fiverr and that has paid me out since then. And will just continue doing it and registering a new business bank account for the payments.

    Twists
Now one of the reasons for this thread is also to get other ideas and twists on this idea we can share and profit from together. There are many sites we can promote with the traffic sources, one I had in mind was a viral video site that just hosts funny, cute etc videos and users can leave comments. We can place ads on there and profit from arbitrage too.

Please share your ideas too guys and other traffic sources you have found that give good ROI - I am sure there is room for us all to make money.

    Here is some proof too

    Interesting...Thanks for sharing.

One twist you can do is use a redirect script so if a visitor goes to hit the back button and exit your site, you can send them to another url (i.e. an affiliate offer).

I would be VERY wary of using that on an adsense site as it's likely to get banned quick. Can't say for sure but seeing how sensitive they are about EVERYTHING, I'm sure that would likely be the case. But it's definitely feasible. Let's say you're promoting weight loss. User comes in and goes to exit without clicking on anything, but instead of losing them, you send them to an offer that you had an ad on your site for. I can tell you from experience you WILL make more sales. A LOT depends on your offers, of course, but it does work with quality stuff.

Here's a link to the script that someone put out there at BHW. I use something different but don't see why this wouldn't work:

Hopefully will get some back too :)

Thanks for that will look at implementing something like this, I have only used this traffic to monetize banner ads so far but it could work for offers potentially too.

I use business bank accounts this way easy to change and get a new fiverr adsense account

Yes I am sure there are many ways to bypass this after approval if you use your imagination ;-)

Potentially you could used 4 ad networks spread across 2 sites as using all 4 ad networks on one site end up lowering CTR and makes the site look spammy. Taboola and Adsense are the best payers though especially for USA traffic

Do you think this is viable without adsense?

I know propeller ads has a solid CPM for their pop unders, but i don't like how it takes over IOS web browser and opens the content in front of the page. Taboola was total dogshit for me. There's much better networks that have the same kind of ads, when i switched from taboola i was literally make 10-15x what they were paying.

Have you considered building some pages with likejacking from the traffic sources so you can just keep promoting articles while building an audience?

Would love to exchange some ideas, I run a pretty large viral site, you've probably "repurposed" an article or two of mines if you use buzzsumo without knowing it lol. PM me your skype if interested.

    Excellent!

Traffic arbitrage is a good way to earn money. I didn't know about a few of the traffic sources you posted. Thank you!

I have been using adsense so no need to drop it - Taboola pay well for USA clicks just not for any other country

Where does most of your traffic come from?
