My two money sites I finally got to rank in google, for about a month. Then got slapped with a - 50 penalty. Once, slapped by google they both ranked in Bing. #2 on the first page. So now, I am saying fuck google and I am starting a niche site selling affiliate products with hopes to get it to rank in BING, with the same method I did before. Here is the method I Used, pretty standard.....

20 Web 2.0 properties with 1 link pointing to money site
Mass Article Submission with links pointing to Web 2.0 properties
20,0 00 SB comment blast to Web 2.0;s to give them juice
Thats it, I ranked in Bing pretty easily.

    6k exact search

yep, the traffic is much much less, so this time I am picking a much higher searched for KW. I am assume 30% of the searches in googles KW tool come from Bing(i am kinda just making this up) So I am gonna shoot for something int he 15k-25k range.

What's wrong with this? Web 2.0 is safe and you used article/SB for tier 2. Why you got -50 penalty?

I've gotta say, although the traffic on Bing is lower- way way way lower, they're actually more valuable visitors.
On the whole they don't have adblocker, haven't blocked cookies, read slower and click more things on site, so focusing on a mega keyword is worthwhile.
    Basic business sense really.

And honestly, the only reason you don't see people talking about it on here or other SEO forums is there are some people making LOADS of money off bing and they'd prefer everyone else becomes mired in the google bog and ignores their market.

I get traffic from bing as well. These updates have shown that it would be a very bad idea to depend on google as the only means of getting targeted and high-quality traffic.

Actually the reason people ignore Bing is because their algorithm is much less advanced and they can't crawl the internet as fast. Ranking in Bing is a crapshoot. I have yet to find any comprehensive guide that explains what is different between Bing and Google in terms of algo.

    Frankly you just got lucky.

Google in its effort to catch more spam seem to have automated away their system so much that many non spam websites too are penalized. Agree with scrapeboss that we shouldn't solely rely on google for traffic.

All my sites which are no where to be found on google, are ranked #1-3 on bing, mostly #1. I noticed bing traffic increased for my slapped sites for the past few days.

I hope users start to switch over to bing and yahoo over the next few months.

Right now I'm looking for ways to generate traffic without google. Kim Roach's traffic methods come to mind.

My relative used to work on the Anti-Spam department at Bing. They told me that Microsoft created an AI computer program that basically builds its own algorithm based on current search trends data. For example, if trends showed that bing visitors yesterday clicked on sites without exclamation points in the title, Bing's AI would rewrite the algorithm itself to apply more value to sites that didn't contain exclamation points in the title. My relative told me that the AI usually used 600 or so ranking metrics and that the importance of each ranking metric would change on a daily basis depending upon what the trends were.

That was a few years ago, so I'm not sure what they're doing now, but I would assume pretty much the same thing.

I guess this gives me some hope that if Google failes, at least other search engines are available without games.

There's reasons why, Bing uses blind search engine testing to ensure that their algo is producing results as relevant as Google (Apparantly they Bing doesn't leave beta testing for each individual country until user experience exceeds googles), so their results are tailored by hand to some extent to reflect user preferences. Kinda like Lycos (or was it excite?) in the old days I guess.
I'm not sure that's a failing though, just makes it more difficult to maintain a position on there.

Last I saw Bing was still gaining a couple of percent a year, so I don't see the downside to focusing on it or why anyone who's doing well focusing on it would share any techniques :D

yeah this is a good method but how long your rank will sustain in Bing? I doubt about it. because Getting Rank is easy but sustaining in that position is so tough.

Bing just does not deliver the quantity of visitors that Google does. However, I've found that Bing users convert better in most of my niches. Good luck!

    I agree.

This is more evident when you are backlinking. When you have new backlinks, Google starts accounting for them fast and only takes up to 2 weeks to find them. Bing, on the otherhand takes up to 2-3 months. Bing also drops your rankings a few pages for a month or so, but you come back and improve. So, if you get some good backlinks, expect your rankings to drop on Bing for a bit.
