So I own a lot of e-commerce websites and I have one in particular which was doing really well until I get hit with an unnatural link penalty. Lost almost all my traffic but have been building links and have actually started to gain traffic back within a month. I thought this site was done and i was really bummed because of the potential with it as we were going to hit around $20k in sales for the first month then Boom! Got slapped. Anyways, products are really high priced which means most people aren't going to just come to the site through Google and drop $2,000 on a product just off the bat (although surprising some do). So I offered free ebooks etc.. in exchange for an email. I also did this in the same niche over the past year some what. Anyways I had over 200 of these emails from sites that I had sold off in the same niche and I randomly remembered that I had those. Spur of the moment I decided to send off a promo code to those emails for my new site, the one that was hit. Out of 200 send, only about 50 of them opened the email. Out of those 50 only about 10 clicked through to the site. Out of those 10, 2 of them actually purchased. 2 purchases at about $2,000 each. $4,000! My brother was kinda laughing when i told him to check the paypal in the morning and there it was. I still have more emails to send out during the week to the rest because a lot didn't even open. What you can learn here is the power of lists even if it is a very very small list.... Note: I have been also using retargeting which may or may not help, because people keep seeing my ads and my brand which subconsciously may or may not affect their buying decision. I will be sending out an email Wednesday and Friday so be on the look out for updates. It's all in the lists! Thanks!
