    Hey guys!

I have been a member of BHW for a while and I think I finally have something valuable to contribute! I have learned so much here and I am happy to be able to give back. I first became interested in creating a scholarship campaign after reading about it on this forum. I've read a couple posts about things like “is scholarship linkbuilding still effective in 20XX”, even long winded posts from people who claim the stategy is trash and doesnt work at all.

I have just completed a scholarship campaign for my website and I can say with documented proof that schoalrship campaigns are still very effective for building domain and page authority. My companystruggled for a while with SEO, before I realized how important out off page strategy is. I had almost 0 inbound links to my website before the scholarship links so basically all the authority my website has gained has come the links to our scholarship we have procured. EDU sites have incredible domain authority. You should try to get as many of them linking to your site as possible. In all we have gotten about 15 links to our site. Nothing crazy, but I hope to be getting more soon. The best part is that no one has applied to our scholarship yet. With any luck we wont have to pay it out at all :p

    The Process

The first thing you need to do is make a scholarship page for your website. Try to find another company that offers a scholarship and model your web page after theirs. You should make the page look as legit as possible because the schools are going to look at it and make sure your scholarship is real or at least looks real. Heres an example of a scholarship page The things you should include are

    • Introduction to your scholarship

    • Qualification criteria

    • How to apply

    • FAQs

    • Past winners ( if applicable)

    • Deadline for applying

Alright so as I mentioned in the title, I got all 15 links from fiverr. It took some time and money, but I think its worth it. The first thing you need is a contact list of universities. You could try to research them yourself, but the conversion rate is so low and it takes so much time that I think you really need to buy a list to get yourself started.

The next part is GRIND. You have 1000 schools to reach out to. Some of the schools have multiple contact addresses as well. You can hire a VA to do the work for you, or you can do it yourself depending on your budget. There are a few people on fiverr who will do 3 hours of work for $5 (no joke) if you want to outsource the outreach component, I suggest using one of them.

It doesnt really matter what your money site genre is. As long as its not adult or gambling you can still try to use this method for link building. I have used some other link building services on Fiverr and they DO NOT WORK. I did serious damage to my website by buying bs links on Fiverr. I bought directory listings, social shares, PBN links, you name it. Dont waste your time with that. Try whitehat techniques first, and scholarship link building is the best whitehat strategy there is. Especially when you are just getting started and your website has no authority or links.

    Results

I got a free trial for AH Refs to get more authority stats for my website before and after the campaign.

    3/16/2018
    AH Ref Rank: 65 mil
    Alexa Rank: 3.97 mil
    URL Rating: 22
    Domain Ranking: 0
    DA 12
    PA 16

    6/16/2018
    AH Ref Rank: 18.8 mil
    Alexa Rank: 1.6 mil
    URL Rating: 22
    Domain Ranking: 8
    DA 18
    PA 24

I only took a screenshot of the after results, but here it is https://ibb.co/kjhtzT

We have noticed a nice increase in organic traffic after completing this campaign. Most of the keywords we previously ranked for went up a few positions in ranking. From doing this project, I have learned that you dont need to have exact ancor text links to help you rank for specific keywords. Its really about the authority your site has and on page optimization.

I hope this post is helpful for anyone who was considering scholarship link building. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to help you out!

If you don't have any moral issues with ignoring the applicants then no you dont need to provide it. We are going to give it out if anyone applies. The risk is that a school might remove their link to your page, but the majority of them should stick even if you never give it out.

How long did it take for you to notice a rank increase?

I noticed an increase in my Alexa and AH refs link within a week from getting my first link. Its been a gradual build of authority ever since then. Edu links get indexed by Google quicker than average links from my experience.

I have never had a university check - but I do pay.

The 'trick' is very strict application requirements.

    Ex:

    1. Must be student of school of nursing
    2. Must have 3.5 GPA
    3. Must not current be on a school sponsored scholarship
    4. Nursing program must be acctedited by xxx
    5. Etc

Strict deadline and submission dates as well.

You also can have a low scholarship amount. I have gone as low as $250. But less can be done.

Then again, I always pay out. But the few sites I keep renewing these links on, I get few applicants and those that do, most skip a requirement intentionally (No essay for example - because the essay is 'only' for 250 bucks paid directly to the school).

Thats really smart. We should have stricter criteria. Thanks for the tip!

Wow, you always pay out? Did you select the best applicant or only some random applicant?

You missed the part where he said: "the trick" . So not that many will qualify, so sometimes you likely do not have to pay at all (as no one qualified) and other times you pay the $250 out. Just calculate it if its worth it for you for a few .edu links
