You can always use quotes from Pinterest as well. There is no restriction and i have got design ideas from Pinterest too.

However, do keep in mind that majority of the Pinterest quotes are already converted to designs. I used reddit for research part because the funny quote OP shared in a funny way isn't available on product any where else.

Designer need to be creative..No blatant copy of the design. By high quality i meant by designer have created a design on his own but i only provided him ideas with the layout i would like and obviously the quote. Most of the T-Shirt designers know about this. Hire a quality designer from Upwork and pay $60 to $100 only then a designer will create high quality work.

Thank you for your kind words.

You didn't read the post correctly...I used Reddit for Research and i am promoting the product via Facebook Advertisements.

His own illustrations as per his creative mind. However, i do mention the colors i need and obviously the quote. I am not asking designer to blatantly copy the design.

True. Research is the most important part when it comes to selling POD.

    Thanks man!

    You're welcome :)

$21.99 + shipping. And on majority of orders customers are adding upsell and downsell offers as well.

Good luck if you decide to give a shot :)

Complete picture of the T-shirt with attractive mock up's and obviously the PPE ad copy had the link as well..

PPE ads are good to judge whether the product have a chance to be scaled or not.

I don't think promoting T-shirts on reddit is a good idea....Reddit for me is good for research only.

I use Teelaunch which is a fulfillment company available on Shopify...They send T-shirts to customers directly so you do not have to stock the product before hand.

Recently, i have installed custom cat as well who have more options and currently testing them as well.

I don't know if this was answered before. You said you used teelaunch as the T-shirt provider, but how did you set it up? Do customers order through your site and you order for them from teelaunch (like dropshipping) or did you implement teelaunch directly on your site so orders go automatically to them?

Thanks for all the answers OP!! Would you recommend getting some higher quality designs from upwork and filling the store up more with cheaper designs from fiverr?

My concern is it will get very pricey to fill the entire store with expensive designs, but I don't want a store with just a few products. What do you think?

Love the thread - started a couple stores and I'm currently running ads and doing some testing

    1. Do you run PPE campaigns to images of t-shirt mockups?

Or do you run PPE campaigns to graphics, then do a remarketing campaign to the "engagers" with the tee mockup?

    2. What kind of copy do you use in these ads?

It is so helpful. Which payment method did you use? And how to withdraw after without to pay any taxes?

    Set up site last night.

Made graphics for free with canva.com

    Uploaded graphics to shopify+printful

    Created FB page

Took mockup of a shirt and pinned to FB page

Made highly engaging infographic and posted to FB page

Ran PPE ad with strict targeting to the infographic post

    Invited engagers to group

    Went to bed

    Woke up with first order

Method works - got first sale within 16 hours of starting

    Thanks

You only need to install the Teelaunch app on shopify and add products from it to your store...Order fulfillment process is all done automatically. You need to add Paypal or your card on app so they can charge you when new orders came in. Once orders gets shipped they will send tracking information to your customer. The only thing you need to worry is sending traffic to your product page :)

Yes, you can have some designs done from Fiverr as well...Store must have a professional look so customer can trust it and make the purchase. The main design for which you do most of the research should have a high quality graphic so you can scale it and that can provide you good return. Also upsell and downsell offers to your product in order to increase average order value.

Awesome..Facebook ads are definitely the best source to get going fast.

Paypal and Stripe i am using.

Awesome man! Congrats for your 1st sale :)

Do segment age group in your ads so you know which age group is buying the most T-shirts and you can then scale to that age segment.

Super! It's good that you did it! I have many interesting prints and I also want my store aimed at the audience of the United States of America. Do you know what I'm on? I can not make myself a way to accept payments. Yes. I have almost completely created a shop on the Word press - and I do not have a way of payment. Paypall and stripe require the actual location of business in America. I'm from Russia ... Stripe suggests contacting the "atlas" where for $ 500 a physical address will be made, but it's not for me.

Help me? I can not move, although I understand that my project will turn out to be rather fat and interesting.

How can I find payment methods? Is there an alternative to Paypall and a stripe, or is there a way to make an account for receiving payments on these services without having a business in America?

Thanks for making up the post and guidance ...
My request is simple, after having the design from your designer, What T-Shirt color seems to work best with you/ Work along with the design?

    Thanks

Horrible because I don't know a damn thing about what makes people tick when it comes to "identity items".

    Essentially, you're selling identity.

So I'm just researching and trying to learn what separates an effective shirt from a dud. I'm looking at success stories and common themes and just trying to draw conclusions.

I see a lot of shirts sell when they express identity like "Don't make me use my NURSE voice!" etc.

Then my next questions are about ad campaigns. Do I just make a killer, share-worthy, viral shirt and run PPE ads? Or do I do traffic?

Do I run PPE then make a custom audience of the engagers and push for the sale with a more demanding CTA?

I dunno. I sold 1 shirt but I think I just got lucky. So now I'm trying to learn what makes people tick. If I can sell like 10 of a single shirt, then I'm confident I can scale it.

    @CertificationsXpert :

What type of checkboxes are you marking off when trying to have a successful shirt? Do you have a list or some guidelines you go through?

What do your successful campaigns have in common?

I haven't started my campaigns yet, so I'll let you know my experience. Where are you getting your designs done? Cause I think that's a huge part. Also, my quotes often mention the breed specifically so that people think " that's perfect for me!"

I'm not sure as I haven't tested yet.

@CertificationsXpert When doing your PPE campaigns, what cost per engagement do you usually deem a "worthy" product?

    Thanks

Oh, also I used got some designs from upwork and they are outstanding! I also tried fiverr, and got a couple decent designs, but nothing great. It was also like pulling teeth to get something with a semblance of my concept. They also, didn't provide vector files like they said they would so... I'm not even sure I can use them.

Thanks OP for recommending upwork, as I probably would have gone to fiverr initially.

I designed a few myself because I like doing shit + I'm a cheapo - but really I should just find good designers that can do stuff for $5 design or something. Someone from the Phillipines or something.

I spent the day reading a plethora of information on POD - it appears that it's kinda like gambling but with better chances on ROI.

Successful PODers will launch dozens of products per week, test with $10-40, watch 90% of them flop and scale the 10% that make it.

I'm gonna gather design ideas and shop around for designers tomorrow.

My current questions revolve around Shopify. Why Shopify over Wordpress+WooCommerce?

I want to open shops in multiple niches and I feel like Shopify costs will get big really quickly.

On Wordpress I can just make a site like "shophub.com" and then subdomains for separate niches or something, just so I can test at little to no cost. And be able to customize the site more.

It would be like poodlelovers.shophub.com, welovecamping.shophub.com etc.

That way I don't have to shell out $ to test domains (niches) that may or may not work.

In Russia below mentioned payment gateways are available...2Checkout will work fine.

Major payment gateways supported in Russia
    • 2Checkout
    • BitPay
    • Coinbase Commerce
    • GoCoin
    • Kash Direct Debit
    • PayPal Express Checkout
    • PUT IT ON LAY-BUY
    • Skrill

The color scheme is not fixed. It changes as per the design quote...Red , Blue , Yellow , Black , Pink are colors i like to add on design.

When i had launched the design...I ran a PPE ad with $50 budget for 2 days...In those $50 i got 6 to 8 sales and alot of positive reactions from potential customers who had written I need this , I want this , Take my money , How do i order...Then i switched to website conversion ads with $15/adset.

First , thing the design part is important and design should be high quality...You should try to find something which has not been sold million times already....Many of the normal quotes you will find on Pinterest are mostly already available on POD products so less chances for those design to be scaled and can bring 6 figures.

PPE ads are good to find out what is the response from potential prospects...If prospects are writing "I need this" , "I want this" , "How do i order"? these comments are good indication that your design have got the potential....

When you are going to start a new campaign you should run a PPE ad for minimum of 3 days with $10/20 per ad set / day.

In those 3 days your campaign should bring in 2 to 4 sales per ad set. This is the point where you need to switch to Website Conversion ads and segment in ad groups via age , targeting and gender.

I do not look for cost per engagement much....Yes , CTR is good factor to look at whether your prospects are making an effort to go to product page or not.

In $30 PPE ad you should have minimum of 2 sales , minimum of positive 7 to 14 comments from customers and 8 to 24 shares. If your ad campaign meets this criteria there is a high chance the design you got have the potential and it will bring in solid ROI if work has been done consistently...Do not ignore the importance of segmenting your ad groups via age , gender and targeting.

Fiverr designers are mostly not creative...They search online and create copies of the templates available already....On upwork if you pay a good amount the designer will create high quality illustrations which will look awesome on a shirt but also will push your potential prospects to make the purchase...No one wants to buy a cheap looking shit crappy design shirt...Always , ask your yourselves would you buy the cheap looking shirt?

If you are not a professional graphic designer and trying to create designs yourselves..There is 95% chance that your own design won't sell...Graphic designers are professionals they know better than us what color scheme to use and what illustrations and fonts will fit for a particular quote line...

POD works for people who give time to do proper research...It's time wasting shit when some people recommend to launch 2 to 4 designs per day which will only increase the cost and there is high chance they won't sell much coz people are looking for quantity over quality none of the design will work and generate over 100% ROI in the 1st week.... Gone are those 2013-14 days when selling shirts was easy and cheap looking named designs were easy to be sell off... It's a competitive business which have high chance to make huge ROI but it requires patience and proper research.

I use shopify because i hate to manage Wordpress hosting and updates....Shopify have best hosting and they have tons of apps available which makes the life easy for an eCom merchant. If you're a PRO in managing a woocommerce website and you know which is the best hosting you can definitely launch your store on woocommerce...But again , Teelaunch is not available on woocommerce so you will have to find other fulfillment companies....

You can use a brandable domain and add multiple niches on one store...Each niche have a separate collection and sub collection pages...

    Great play by play, thanks!

I was doing teespring fb campaigns for a while, might get back into it with this!
