Well it's hard to know the real competition without seeing the full serps. If the wikihow page is out ranking lots of authority sites it might be harder. If the wikihow page is out ranking lower quality sites then it is definitely possible to get some traffic and higher serp position. In most cases wiki how, ehow and other authority page sub pages are possible to out rank, but you gotta build up a site with some authority or a EMD.

There are few steps to go on #1.
    - get EMD.
    - get unique content - 2% to 3% keywords in the text.
    - do on-page seo.
    - do link building - 3 tiers is good.
    - ping everything.
    - add fresh content every few weeks.

And very important: never share your niche/keyword.
The niche will be saturated. My advice is to find new niche.

Good luck with your site! :)
