So this is my first attempt to to build a page to get to number 1 on google. I found a 3 KW phrase that gets about 10,000 local searches a month.

When I search it, the #1 spot has the first 2 out of my 3 KW phrase in the URL, PR0, 14 backlinks (1 link is a PR5 the rest NA) and 3,500 LD or links to domain.

The #2 spot has a PR2, 2 links to page, and 950 links to domain.

The exact URL is available so I can grab that how, based on that info would it be pretty easy to rank #1 for that KW? Also micro niche finder gave it a green light.

this should be cake. just dont forget to use your meta tags properly and although you want the page to weigh heavy for your keywords, dont over do it (keyword stuffing has negative effects). Good luck man!

easy as hell

Backlink count and PR seems easy to overtake, but one should also consider the domain age of competitors. Are they more than 5 years old? If yes then you would have to work on getting quality links rather than quantity to get to the top 5.

Also analyze their keyword density and plan your website accordingly.

Should be a piece of cake mate! You could easily blank out a lot of the page if you make a youtube vid with the keyword and bookmark it. Onviously link to your page from youtube.

Do the same with a few other web 2.0 properties.

I've had 7 of the top 10 for local listings before using this method.

I started to look some more and Im not so sure if this is doable. The number one spot is the main website for information about this company that makes this particular item. The #2 spot also looks like the companies main store to where you can purchase the items. Im not so sure if it would be that easy to get number one. I want to write of a nice review site of a certain category of their products and then refer them to amazon. Thoughs?

so you want to rank for the company keyword, and they already have a website and a webstore..

you could go for a company - product - Review type site..

sth like.. read this review before buying.. baam affiliate link..

ranking will be easy, getting people to click your site will be more difficult.., make them click your site for a particular reason, instead of clicking on the official company website..

My honest advice... just do it. The worse that will happen is you will learn and gain a lot of experience. It's your fist try, so the sooner you do it the better. You might hit a jackpot or strike out, either way it will make your second attempt that much more likely to succeed.

And yes, from what you described, it seems to be a piece of cake. However, i'd make sure you're not using a "broad match" search volume as reference, and check the keyword on multiple tools.

Thats for the great advice so far guys. Ok it looks like I have no clue what Im doing. Last night when I was just messing around in MNF it showed me this gets 10K searches. Today MNF shows me it gets 480 a month, WTF? Then I use googles actual keyword tool and it shows 3600 a month. I dunno what Im doing wrong here but nothing is adding up. Whats the best way to actually check this?

I'll let you in on a little secret:cool:

There isn't a tool around that will tell you the exact amount times a particular term is searched!

It basically comes down to common sense and your gut feeling. Just do it, once it's up keep adding seo stuff like:
links, anchor links, h tags, on page seo, content, and anything else you think you need to do. Like g111k said, you just never know in the end!
