say you want to rank for the KW "Samsung Printer X1000". the competition is virtually zero, hardly any backlinks. rank #1 is Samsung.com and #2 is Amazon. how easy or hard is it to outrank Samsung.com? its ranking #1 because of the domain authority since the KW is about Samsungs product. even though it hardly has any offpage seo, will it be easy or hard to outrank it?

I'm not sure exactly how difficult it would be. Just make sure not to use the company/product name in your domain name!

I do not see this as a good SEO goal personally.
Obviously, now the printer is very popular. But what will be the case in 1 year?

It's for sure not easy to outrank samsung.com , and maybe it will take you so much time that you'll naturally end up seeing no visits, simply because this printer will not be popular anymore.

easy, with a niche like this, approach with legit SEO not any black hat crap.

but along with what he says, it will die.

Without looking at the actual rankings and pages, Samsung might be hard, Amazon wouldn't be too hard, but not really easy either.

Strongly agree with what Kikerinka said. Best not aim a product that is only popular as of right now. What would the product be like after a year.Similarly, seasonal products are not a great choice too!

I believe it is much better to aim for 'Informative' keywords like 'How do I ... ?'. Definitely someone who types that in the search browser has some sort of problem, you may drop an affiliate link or something and fingers crossed you sell something.
Sure it may be hard to find one with a low competition but if you do then great!

I really dont think its that hard at all. It doesnt matter how big they are. Check their backlink profile for the page they rank #1 for. Figure out how many exact anchor texts they have for that page and beat them with more backlinks.

if one judges the niche difficulty by their offpage seo, then its easy. (cause they hardly have any backlinks).

the tricky thing about this is you're trying to rank for the brand names product. so obviously google favors the brand name website to be #1. what is ur opinion on it? will the brand name make it difficult to outrank even tho iit has hardly any backlinks?

It'd be pretty easy if you included the product name in your domain but thats never a good idea

You do not have to outrank them but if you can get right below them with such and such review, you will get loads of traffic.

I'm not sure it is possible, and if you do manage it I doubt you'd last long, ranking 2 or 3 yeah but not 1.

Google would assign a "vital" rating to the samsung domain, something you'd never be able to beat.

EMD's are pretty easy, atleast those I tried. They ranked over the actual company until I stopped. Not good to have a company name in the domain..
