Was talking to a friend about this today, just wondering how difficult it is to make money in this niche?

Was thinking about just building a site that scrapes it's own content, possibly targeting local search somehow...

As with all things, it depends how hard you work and how good you are...
There are literally TONS of low competition, >10k search niches in porn.
Granted, how you monetize this is the most creative part.

I'd figure it's like most other niches. There will be keywords that will be extremely difficult to crack, but as Expertpeon said, there will be lower volume keywords that you should be able to rank for.

About 10 x harder than mainstream (honestly).

It was 1995 when I got started in the online porn niche. I wouldn't even know where to begin to tell you how to get started. Whoever said it's 10 times harder than mainstream is absolutely correct. I remember when someone could get started and, in 18 months, be driving around in a Ferrari. Those days are long gone - thanks, in part, to tubes and torrent sites.

If you absolutely HAD to get started in adult I would venture:

    - SEO for low-competition terms and direct them to relevant sub-niches. (Targeting arm pit fetish, for instance).

    - Niche Forums

5 years ago, I would have said link lists and blogs. 10 years ago, I would have said TGPS and MGPs.

Actually, the difficulty is in what role you play in the supply chain :spank:

You need to either find a specific niche (and I would go softer, not harder - no pun intended) or a personality brand.

If tubes, torrents and file sharing sites will be destroyed by those new laws, then it might be interesting area again, but right now adult is not good choice. I have both adult and mainstream sites and really one visitor on mainstream site has for me the same value as 100-200 visitors on adult web.

Porn is dead in most ways. Digital products are hard to sell, easy to pirate. .

If i really wanted to get back into i'd say this. Build an illegal tube site (or an aggregate of illegal tube sites). Link build and blast like a mofo. Make it rich and content diverse. Build a steady following of traffic first then . . . place ads, collect emails, or do both.

I'd sell you an ebook on it . but it would be stolen in 2 min and blasted all over the place for free. . . ;)
