How hard is it to beat the shopping results in google serps. I mean if they are number 1 right now for a keyword Im trying to rank for should I not attempt, or are the easy to beat?

I understand but #1 gets more than 50% of the clicks, and thats what I want.

Exactly! just like the position of PPC ads...top 3 is more than enough..
Other factors include..what products, your selling price...

Anyone can be beaten in any ranking system like that.
It's just like setting yourself to target a website for it's keyword ranking.
Do a little research, use their marketing tactics against them and supercharge your campaign to grab everyone's attention way above the scale they are currently working at.
It's pretty simple really but you have to be willing to work at it. Bum marketing won't work in any stage of that level of profitability. You have to be rather serious to make those kinds of moves.
Look at it like " King of the mountain " and remember that it is easy to get to the top but a lot of smart planning and hardcore action to stay there. That's why people fall off so easily and don't come back to the search engines.
If you are going to make that effort to move that high up, be prepared to fight to keep it. That guy is going to want his spot back and if he is aggressive enoug hto be there in the first place, you can count on the fact that he is not the set it and forget it type of business person.
