Well .. I have some hardcore linking strategies and I usually see the first search engine visitors within 3-6 hours for a new site. It can be done
I don't target high competition kw though ..
and what would be those hardcore linking strategies if I may ask?

Oh well .. I don't think I want to share that
It's my biggest money maker strategy .. but .. I get 400-700 backlinks in 3 hours time using multiple strategies and tools
I use all the linking strategies you mentioned (-prosubmiter), and the video I don't just submit it to youtube but to all video sites that I can using some semi automated software
.. and some other linking strategies and some software to automate that (some custom, some bought)
The main issue for me was building links too fast is a reason enough to get banned from serp ? .. My sites still stay up in search (it's the third month already for couple of sites that I launched with this strategies).. but I'm sure there's a limit
Also I hide my affiliate links from google. I have a friend that I thought the same methods and he put adsense on the sites he build and within the hour of putting adsense on sites, his sites were kicked out of google ..

You don't have to be specific, but can you give us a general idea of the types of links you are building--trackbacks, social bookmarking, blog commenting etc? I am wondering the quality of the links.
