I've been blogging since 2011, but I've never really seen the value in having a mailing list. I have a few concerns and questions regarding its effectiveness:
  1. If I send content directly to my subscribers through email, what would motivate them to visit my blog? They already got the content through email.
  2. Considering how the Google AdSense algorithm works, it relies on gathering data about visitors' interests. If visitors access my blog through their email, would Google AdSense still be able to collect that data effectively?
  3. It seems like having a mailing list is more useful if I'm using my blog to promote another product or business, rather than relying solely on ad revenue from my blog.
However, I've noticed that many popular and established bloggers are actively promoting their mailing lists. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing or if any of my assumptions are incorrect. Is there a technique or strategy that I'm unaware of that makes a mailing list compatible with earning through a blog with ads?
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or insights from anyone who can shed some light on this matter. Thank you in advance.

Mailing list is for own monetization, it does not help with seo. It can help in growth of the blog also and also you can flip your blog for higher value if you have good mailing list.

A mailing list is an excellent tool for monetization, but it doesn't directly impact SEO. However, it can significantly contribute to the growth of your blog and increase the overall value if you have a robust subscriber base. In fact, if you plan on selling your blog in the future, a strong mailing list can significantly boost its value.

Here's a possible revised version:To the best of my knowledge, the company does not offer a way to check your card balance directly. Instead, they would need to place a temporary block on your funds, similar to how hotels operate. However, if you are using a service like Revolut, you can easily track whether such a block has been placed and monitor your available balance.

Thanks!
Okay, so how is mailing list used in its own monetization? How does it contribute to the growth of blog (what constitutes growth in this context? content? popularity)? I have no plans of selling the blogs in the future, I'm hoping to use them as additional stream of income that will allow me to be unemployed for years and still be able to feed my family.
.
Also, why you guys seem to answer the same way?

There's no "right" or "wrong". It really depends on what you're trying to do / goals, what kind of strategy you have in place, and where you need your audience to be.
Generally speaking, as others have said, it's typically used to get them online to your site. Whether for views, engagement, etc that's up to you. Other purposes you may not need them on your site, and perhaps you sell them directly via email....

Answer to your first question: you don't give them the full piece of each content via email. Truncate it at maybe 150th word and link to your blog from the last words. Like a teaser.. got it?
Thanks! Your answer makes the most sense.

A mailing list can be your blog's secret weapon for generating revenue. Although it doesn't directly affect your SEO, it can significantly boost your blog's growth. Moreover, a powerful mailing list can enhance the value of your blog, making it more attractive to potential buyers if you choose to sell it in the future.

Wow! Some replies here seem to be generated by our good ol friend ChatGPT.

It would be foolish not to have an optin to subscribe to your website.
You can create consistent traffic just by using your list - not to mention steady promotions.

A mailing list is essential for SEO and growing your blog because it allows you to Drive consistent traffic to your blog posts by notifying your subscribers whenever you publish new content and Build trust and loyalty with your audience by providing valuable information and engaging with them.

I look at my blog promotion as having three key components

Get targetted people to the website
Keep people on the blog
Get them to return

It’s the third bit I use mailing lists for. If you have initially brought in targeted traffic you know that have some interest in your niche.

If they then sign up for your mailing list you have the opportunity to bring them back to site. Away from the opportunity to earn through affiliate links you can still increase your ad earnings as you are bringing targetted traffic back.

More impressions and more clicks will up your ad revenue all things being equal.

There’s a cost to doing email but you can start off quite cheaply.

As an added benefit if you every dongo down affiliate route or launch your own product you have a list of people to promote to.

It is very beneficial to have a mailing list. You can promote numerous offers to them. You get good loyal subscribers for your blog.

Always build your mailing list. It helps in adding value to your blog especially when you want to sell your blog. You can promote affiliate products to your list and get some good targeted traffic.

For affiliate sites, it's almost inevitable
For info sites, instant exposure after publishing each post

The usage of an email list depends on your niche and the type of content you write. For some, it is one of the best ways to keep the readers coming back for something they wanted like a series of articles that solves a problem.

It is also beneficial for news websites but they won't have high CTR. Affiliate sites will fail with email marketing unless their main purpose is to provide a high value first and foremost.

i really think You can promote affiliate products high value first and foremost.
