How does using torrents compare to say article marketing?

I'm open to trying anything, but to me it seems like torrents might be difficult to make money from. I always see an ebook with the same "check this free offer" and I never open it, in fact I always delete...
I guess curiosity gets some people but the only way I really see that could work other than owning a torrent site and charging for members or something would be to offfer downloads, but only give them free trials on either a pay per download, or a download that is preloaded with your affiliate... Even then, is it still better than any other method, or is just a method for certain niches and only works for the right niche?

Although i dont personally do it because not really interested in adware etc. To me article marketing is more long term. Alot of people say that torrents get spread forever, which in some cases they do. For example i uploaded a movie with a free offer html file included. And im still getting leads from it to this day. But not exactly a living thats for sure.
