How sites like eZine are able to catch/filter out ping generated referral traffic?
How does exactly ping referring traffic works on a computer level?

Is there a known list of sites that filter it out and ones that don't (i guess that's a bit too much to ask? :) )

They usually filter pings by IP address.

Why? Seems like the simplest method of slowing down fake traffic from "pings" to me. Any tool that I've used that does it relies on using proxies to generate the traffic specifically because of this.

I'm not sure i understand you.

If you use 500 different IPs (proxies) how they filter that out?
They don't know they are proxies if they are not transparent.

Do you have idea what you are talking about?

If you are using public or shared proxies they could very well be able to tell they are proxies (even if they are "not transparent"). They could even be maintaining lists of known proxy blocks. If they can't tell they are proxies, they could just count it as 500 views and stop it there. If you use the same http referer or user agent for all the pings you are sending they could be able to detect you and start filtering no matter how many proxies you are using.. Why don't you just say exactly what you have tried and failed at, it will be easier to tell you why it didn't work. I do "have idea" what I am talking about.

I got an answer from the developer of ScrapeBox
Ezine doesn't count ping referral traffic, cause their counter works using JS and image, and ping mode doesn't load JS and images.
If a program loads normally the site using a proxy it will count.

Scrapebox isn't the only way to "ping" referral traffic to those sites, you could successfully do it with other methods. Like you said, scrapebox will not load JS or images on sites (ezine as well as other JS based solutions like google analytics and various popular tracking software) At least we know what you were doing wrong, thanks for the update. Unsubscribed.

scrapebox can still do it just start manual poster and keep reloading the page. ONly thing is it will take you forever to get a lot of views.
