How does one tell if a blog is an autoblog?

Greetings, Brothers and Sisters of the Chapeau Noir,

Whilst doing my due diligence researching a keyword I've already registered a domain for, (probably a bad choice of keyword, it was from a time before I understood things like "The Long Tail", "Low-Hanging Fruit", and of course, "Microniche", but I digress,) and found this high-ranking blog: theiphoneblog.com. (I know, that's one more backlink to my potential competition, but he's already got 276,000 so what's the difference, right?)

It looks like there's at least 8-10 posts per day, some of which have a footer saying "Via ...", which I'm guessing is some sort of automated RSS feed, and there's a buttload of affiliate links... so, um, I guess I just answered my own question. L-proverbial-OL.

However, I also see a podcast, which I haven't listened to, but appears to be legit. So is this blog semi-automated? If so, is that another viable and potentially lucrative blogging option? Would it be White Hat? Grey Hat? Am I over-analyzing this way too much? Should I switch to decaf?

As always, my thanks to the good people of BHW. A witty signature is coming soon, I just haven't bothered to figure one out yet.
