Does anyone know what factors google uses to determine the authenticity of a websites social signals?

I know people recommend drip feeding social signals but what if a site goes viral?

Does Google check how old every persons social profile is who likes or shares your site? Do they check how many friends/connection all the interacting profiles have?

    Any ideas / thoughts anyone???

Haven't you heard of Google's massive spying on gmail, phones, chrome browser, javascript trackers, analytics, adsense, maps, you name it

They monitor all user activity on the WWW. A site gets 2000 likes without the Chrome spy module reporting any activity, and they know it's fake likes.

Ha I guess buying 2000 likes on fiverr isn't just pointless its pretty risky then!

This makes no sense. Chrome browser has only a small market share. And even 1,000 shares has a reasonable probability of having zero of them go through Chrome. I'd say that their quailty metrics are more than enough to spot fake social accounts who do nothing but spam random links all day.

When you say quality metrics are you referring to the quality of the websites links and content etc? So if I have a great website with loads of amazing content and a strong natural backlink profile then went and purchased 10k facebook likes from fiverr and drip fed them Google would assume these are real?

WTF? Chrome has the largest market share for desktop PC's.

Google already sponsored Firefox. Why did they invest billions into another browser? Because they couldn't get the Mozilla crew to include all that spyware into Firefox, so they launched their own.

True - I was actually shocked a few months back when I learned this. I fully expected FF to overtake IE but Chrome did. Maybe because FF took the direction of IE and bloated it so much it's hardly any better than IE these days.

That's right. Chrome was very fast, but it also became bloated. Plus the complete lack of privacy while using Chrome, GoogleUpdate.EXE forever running on my PC and the thought of Matt Cutts in a dark room watching what everyone is doing on the WWW are definitive turnoffs for me :p

No, I'm referring to the quality of the Facebook accounts. The cheap ones you buy in bulk are low quality usually because all they do is post random spam all day and never do "natural" looking updates etc. Some fakes are ok, but I wouldn't ever go heavy like 10,000 for myself. Dangerous. Sometimes less is more.

Do we know if Google can even see a facebook users activity though? Most is private. Unless they have some secret API into the facebook servers...wouldn't surprise me...

Seems likely. A lot of the ones that spam are public anyway, trying to get their wall to give link juice. And Twitter is out in the open anyway.
