    Hi Guys,

I was checking around a bit and finally got around to negotiating to purchase a domain.

One domain is PR3, 2.5 years old, mozrank of 3.3

My question is, how do you value the price of such domain?

P.S: The domain owner isn't monetizing/parking his domain, so its just lying idle.

depends on how much its worth to you really. So spend what you think its worth on the basis of what you will create with it and will make with it.

Thanks for your inputs. I'm building my private network of sites, so this one will be used as part of that.

So is there no real logic to the value of a domain then?

Value depends on many factors like EMD or not, dictionary word or not, keyword rich or not, age of domain, previous content, Pagerank, developed or not. There are service that appraise a domain for you but I don't think it would be worth. Instead use your own judgement based on different factors and your budget.

Hmm.. I guess so. Made an offer of $30 which is covering the domains past 3 years of registration. Let's see if he takes it up.

Well real value depends on keyword , age and the backlinks domain has .

    Its some common factors
If domain has good backlinks then value will be higher .

A week ago i bought very good 4 years old expired domain for $12. Well.. its seems nobody like it as much as me, but i believe i made a good purchase.

When I was looking for a domain to buy i contacted several owners of parked domains. I got offers from 1k to 10k .

Its all depends on the value you and seller see in the domain.

Some are looking for age, others for PR, links, traffic, EMD, branding etc etc...

Why do you believe you want this domain particularly?

I did the same. Contacted a bunch of owners. One guy got back with a "conversation starts at 25k"

anyways, purchasing it for the PR and the authority it has. seems like the owner isn't using the domain any more.

I see your point of getting the domain at $12. I guess not all owners of domains use it specifically for SEO purposes.

I'm positive the $30 should close the deal. But then again, have a couple of more owners that i'm negotiating with.
