I am currently working on starting a business selling a fashion products that I want to design.

My question: How do you properly do on site SEO for sites that aren't going to have lots of words. I am thinking about starting blog posts on the "blog" section of the site to show progress before official launch of my products (design drawings, alpha stage sorta things), so i figure I can do some on site SEO on those posts. Will the blog portion of my site give juice to main homepage? Main homepage: "fashionproduct.com", blog: fashionproduct.com/blog.

The site will have product specs, sizes, colors etc...but besides that, how is one suppose to do on site SEO correctly? Not much room for words. Ill have my metatags and all that technical stuff done correctly. Do fashion brands just focus on backlinks from people talking about it etc?
