I have seen different approaches with different clients.
Somewhere, It may make sense. Because everyone has their own objective of building links. It depends on the competition of that particular niche they are working in as well.
Whatever, a quality link is what everyone wants.
But unfortunately, in most cases, lack of knowledge is a drawback in building links.
Most people run after vague metrics and end up losing money and time.

✔️Here I have prepared a checklist of KPIs that people used to follow while determining the quality of a link.
  • DA/DR.
  • Organic Traffic.
  • Link type should be Do-follow only. No sponsor tag or no-follow links.
  • Check if it is indexed on Google or not.
  • The number of Unique Referring Domains.
  • Relevant or natural anchor text.
  • Alexa Rank.
  • Trust Flow.
  • Citation Flow.
  • Spam score.
  • The number of outbound links.
  • The number of inbound links.
  • Social shares.
  • Site and Page relevance.
  • Referring IPs.
  • Domain Age.
  • Link Location- header,footer,left sidebar, right sidebar,body.
  • Quality of the keywords they are ranking.

But to be honest, I don’t follow all the KPIs mentioned above.
Here are my KPIs:

  1. DA/DR - Must be higher than my website. It should be 30+ at least.
  2. Organic Traffic - Check the trend of organic traffic growth. Organic Traffic should be a minimum of 5k on Ahrefs.
  3. Link Location - Body.
  4. Link Type - It should be Do-follow
  5. Spam Score - Under 5 %
  6. The number of outbound links - Fewers the better.
  7. Site and Page relevance - Similar niche or relevant sites.
  8. Relevant or natural anchor text.
  9. Indexing Status.
  10. Referring IPs - To check PBN.
  11. Quality of the keywords they are ranking.
Let me know if I missed any key metrics.

At the end, the impact we see will help to analyse whether more links from that site is worth it or not.

Getting backlinks from the unique domain is more effective than building backing from the same domain. I usually prefer to get only one link from a unique domain.

I used to write a guest post for a site on a monthly basis as while the post appeared on their home page it displayed my link in the excerpt which gave an extra boost

DA PA are considered useful metrics to determine the backlink quality.

Sounds like a bit of a shag to check all of those - my #1 go-to is whether the donor article has traffic, is indexed for the keywords I want and is (hopefully) an important article relating to my business and niche

RD is a nice one of course...

@HenrySEO Whenever I do SEO for my own websites my top four parameters are

Traffic 1K+
DR 20+
DA 20+
RDs 1K+
and I have gotten significant results.
I always recommend the same to my clients who have low budget for the guest posts.
but if they have handsome budget then Recommended DA, DR is at least 30+

In search engine optimization, a quality backlink refers do follow backlink within the body text of a page on a high-quality website that is relevant to your topic that points to a page on your website. The highest quality backlinks use relevant low competition keywords within the anchor text of the links....

All I care about is organice keywords, organic traffic to page, relevance to my site/page.

Of course this only applies to guest posts and niche edits which are typically the kind of links I buy alongside PBN rentals.

Mostly value added content. These contents are solving problems genuinely. That's why people are mentioning me in their blog

Few of my valuable clients prefer traffic than getting links from general links which has high DA/PA. I do prefer it as tier 2 when the site has enough source of back link profile.

  1. Spam Score - Under 5 %
  2. The number of outbound links - Fewers the better.
These two metrics are preferred most often by my clients & importantly, sometimes the trust flow of a website.
