I have a wordpress site where people are signing up and so I want to take all of those users and send them 1-2 emails a month about products I have to offer.

Since the Email Marketing section of the forum is still gone I'm wondering what your thoughts on this are.

First, I know of aweber but I don't want to pay monthly to send emails, at this point I would assume there is a good wordpress plugin to use.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks!

So, you want to send those people emails?

Legally speaking, you can't email them. They have given you their email address only for account verification purposes.

You need to setup an autoresponder and start collecting emails.

Or you can mail them asking for their permission and give a confirmation link. Or you can state in your TOS that you will mail them.

You can. But if someone files a complaint that you emails them (asking for permission to email them), without their permission initially, then you're screwed.

If you modify your TOS, that wouldn't entitle you to email the current people on the list.

I'm setting up a popup optin email form with an incentive using the optinbar plugin, the problem i'm having though is setting it up with a free script to capture and store the emails.

I would rarther not pay for a service at the moment while i am building the list. Anyone have a solution ?

Try Mailchimp its free for 2000 subscribers and 12,000 emails a month.
I can't post links, so just google mailchimp

Thank you very much for that, it also seems the optinbar plugin is compatible with mailchimp, so i'll put last nights headache and 'can't see for looking' down to tiredness:D
