How do you link sites together? im a newbie

You just built a site and you dont know what contextual links are?
Lucky you, I'm in a good mode today.
A contextual link is one in which the clickable text is made up of a keyword phrase you want to obtain a page one listing for in Google.
Example if I would like to target: BHW Rules!
The HTML (I guess your doing HTML, if your not sure you can ask your webhoster) code is

If you are using wordpress it would be far easier to search for video tutorials on youtube on how to make links in posts, than it would be for anyone to explain.
Even if you are not look for video tutorials, by your lack of knowledge it would be a lot easier for you to see it done on video. It is a very easy and basic thing to do.

Well I assume that you mean contextual links from other websites ?
Let's say you have a website about mobile phones, and you post your link on a (other) website about insurance.
That would not be a great contextual link.
But let's say you place your link on a website about iphones or any other site about phone related topics, than that would be considert as a contextual (back) link

I think you'll have a hard time to setup wordpress tbh.
Where is your site hosted at right now, how have you built it? Don't post your url.

It depends if the 'links you just add' is pointing to your blog, just change the url in the example above i gave you to your own site.
