I know a time where i bought an aged expired domain, set up wordpress and it just did not indexed, no matter what, so obviously it was somehow penalized. How do you know if the expired domain that you are going to pickup is safe ?

    Thanks

Check the backlinks through open site explorer or ahrefs. If you see a ton of spammy backlinks then it's more likely to have been penalised. Also check with whois.domaintools.com and check the history. Loads of previous owners and drops should also ring alarm bells.

PM me the domain if you like and I'll run it through them for you.

All great tips, there are a bunch of real PR checkers you can use, but also check the backlin profile. And runs a site: and cache: in Google to see if it's possibly still in google. sometimes you'll find that expired domains can still remain indexed even after being parked. If it is still indexed, has a good backlink profile and the PR is real, it might be a good domain to snag

check the amount of backlinks it has...check if the PR is fake....I put the domain name in google and see if it comes up and where.

I bought an expired domain, a few days ago. it is 4 years old or so. No backlinks, nothing. It was already indexed, i added a page, the page got indexed but is not ranking at all, nowhere to be found in top1000 for a keyword where it should easily get at least in the top100 without any problem, talking about pr1s on average in the top10. This expired domain thing is kinda not 100% safe, as my experience shows, since google seems to behave strange sometimes. I bought a new domain and targeted an almost similar keyword, and see there, in 20 hours it landed in top10 even without content, and indexing these expired domains takes days or weeks to get picked up and processed by google somehow, lol.

This can happen to completely new and unused domains as well - I've very recently had two brand new domains that took like 3-5 days to index.

I checked various sites on such blacklist checkers, but there are totally useless and sometimes show totally ridiculous results that make no sense at all.
