there is a site i saw which when you click on it, it brings you to a page with something already entered in the search box, so its a search results, but the page didnt have a query string so they must have done something, does anyone know how youd do this? maybe a wordpress plugin?

Honestly, I wouldn't want Google to index my search results.

Google Panda is all about removing low quality pages from search engines, so I doubt these would ever rank for anything.
If they did, they would be low quality pieces of content and would drag down your site as a whole.

If you did this, 90% of your site's pages would be search results, and you don't want those low quality pages to be Google's average idea of your site.

Hope this makes sense and helps!

Just close access for Google in robots.txt. That's it.

Personally, I index my sites using webmaster tools.

Here is an example of how it?s done, so that everyone can implement it right away: ( Source )

Step 1 : Edit your robots.txt (if you don?t have one, create it)

Step 2: The file must say:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /directory-not-for-robots-or-spiders

Step 3: Save the file and upload it to your server.

Replace ?directory-not-for-robots-or-spiders? with whatever directory you need

Say you want to only prohibit Google, but allow the rest, then change the * for the term Googlebot

    User-Agent: Googlebot
    Disallow: /directory-not-for-robots-or-spiders

Say you want to prohibit multiple directories:

    User-agent: * Disallow: /directory1
    Disallow: /directory2/subdirectory/
    Disallow: /directory3

And if you want to test that everything went on smoothly, login to your Google?s Webmaster Tools, and under the diagnostics tab there?s a Robot.txt Tester.

Actually wordpress have ping itself on posts and indexed. But, It's better to build quality backlink from other sites or quality link networks.
