I've heard from people that using tumblr with your main website is a great idea for more exposure. My question is how?

I post articles about wellness and life, and I was wondering how I could incorporate these articles into tumblr?

Should I give a little snippet + (a quote) then link my article to my website? Would that be a good idea?

    Share your ideas! Thanks! :)

I think a good way would be to just copy paste a smaller article inside of your tumblr post, then make a 'read more' text that links to your post.

Make sure to cut off the sentence in an exciting part of the story like this:

'Chris and Mac were going down the hill and suddenly they saw a read more'.

I know it's a bad example but I think you get the point :).

Upload images in tumblr blogs with links to your main site.

This works for sites such as recipe sites where people click on the picture of the dish in a hope to find the recipe.

I see what you mean, but if you copy content from your main site google can punish you.

    I see.

What I am thinking is giving a brief little snippet, followed by a link and the image I use for the article.

I second the SNAP plugin...and agree with an excerpt as well. IIRC you can write the excerpt separately from the post with SNAP.

I read a little on SNAP and what the plugin does. In order to use google+ you need to pay $50..? I think I will give SNAP a try with my next post I update and see how well it handles it. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks.

First you have to understand what tumblr's audience is like, second, tumblr won't bring you any good if you don't have any followers.

So when you understand those two it's easy to post content that your audience will like, and as for followers, you can start following other tumblr user in the same niche. You will receive reciprocal follow if they see your tumblr has something they like.

For example, you post tons of great motivation quote with relevant picture, and then you follow someone who likes motivational speaker like Anthony Robbin, you will most probably get followers when they see you are posting what they like to see. Do you see the connection here?

When you have tons of followers, that's how you can easily drive tumblr traffic from the link posted on your tumblr post or page.

    Hey,

I use tumblr for my shop. It's actually quite simple and can be effective...

First, I made a sub-domain (blog.domain.com) and connected it with my tumblr profile. I inserted a nice looking theme (bloq... awesome theme for $20 or so) and made everything look as legit as possible (obviously).

Every working day, I search for the 5-15 most weird, unusal looking images with the highest ability to go viral. Then, I'll search information for these images and make a blog post on my original blog (not the tumblr blog!) on my shop. Then, I repost each image separately with tumblr including the part of information for the selected image.

Once I've done that, I reblog and like my tumblr posts with my tumblr network (92 accounts; I'm using xtumblebot). Through that, I get TONS of reblogs from other people outside my network, even though I only have a total following of 6000-something (tumblr network). However, for getting people to follow you, it helps A LOT if you actively follow other people in the niche, especially the ones who reblog your stuff. However, I'd suggest to unfollow most of them about 1-2 weeks later, otherwise it looks rather weird and unprofessional if you follow too many people.

    warm regards,

If you are doing tumblr network, yes it is compulsory to have a proxy for each account or you'll lose being banned quicker.

I'm using shared proxies from cheapprivateproxies.org. They have a thread here on BHW with a coupon code. 50 shared proxies for $31 is pretty nice, and I haven't had any problems with them yet. :)

with tier back links you can link with the web 2.0s which are already linked to your main site.
