How Do You Handle other CMS's?

I have been doing organic seo for a while and have a good understanding behind local seo. What I am wondering is; and this is my main detterrant atm from approaching potential clients:


I understand a little HTML but have never worked in a CMS outside of wordpress. Majority of all local sites I see are using something besides wp. When someone throws me the keys to the castle for on page seo; am I going to be completely lost when it comes to other CMS's?

No. You will need to play around with them and probably watch some videos. Joomla will be really foreign for a wp user at first. My best advice would be not to wait for a project but start installing them on a domain and start learning asap.
