Which alternative would you recommend then?? adBrite? Chitika? I'm sorry but my time is worth more than 0.5-0.10 cents/click.

Your account is safe as your account get bigger

if you are having 10000 natural clicks per day even 1k invalid clicks may not get you down

if you are having 10 natural clicks per day even 1 invalid click get you down

Not easily done unfortunately, there are tools on the market which can alert you to a mass of clicks appearing in your account (you can then disable adsense for a period of time - obviously not a long term solution). When I used adsense I used to alert google to what was happening as soon as possible, never got banned but then stopped using adsense soon after.

You can block ips they are visiting your site to frequently. You could also set a cookie so that only on the second page view adsense code shows up. You can also try encrypting your adsense code / obfuscating it with javascript making it harder for bots to find the code on your site and click it.

You can not alter your adsense code. If you do you will find your account terminated.

Unfortunately there are no better paying ppc networks. I would love to migrate from adsense myself, but other networks are paying peanuts compared to adsense
