Maybe I didn't word my title properly, so I'll elaborate.

Lets say you are buying mobile advertising via a mobile ad agency; more often than not the agency is just reselling someone else's inventory - thus ripping you off with higher prices. How do you find the source and go direct to that agency that has the publisher signed direct?

If you find an agency website with a page for resellers, then they are surely direct agencies.

^ not exactly, all agencies reseller their inventory and they don't post it publically that they do.

anyway to check headers or work backwards? anyone have experience finding the source ad agency of an ad?

Maybe look for company's that advertise creating advertisements for a business. ... Ok, in the interest of not using backspace: Search for a business that designs custom online advertisements. Be human and send an email asking about their services, and then after they reply, ask which ad networks they would recommend. I would imagine that if someone built a business off of making online ads for people, they would have taken the time to offer top-network placement. As I understand it, there are different teirs of ad networks. Do this to a few companies you find. The most common ones will probably be the highest.

However, in order to join these higher teir networks you most likey have to meet a certain deliverability bracket. (I just made that up). You would need to deliver a bajillion ads an hour to be accepted to deliver I think. Thus the teir system...
