Ok, I'm relatively still new at off-page seo. Honestly, I don't do much of it. I've been so focus on site creation and creating content that I've completely neglected off-page seo.

How do you guys find places for backlinks?

Obviously, good old search engines, but how do you use it...such as what's the format structure you type in the search engines, but most importantly how do you find do-follow links.

I remember some softwares out there that locate all sorts of potential traffic and backlink sources, and even tell you if do-follow, such as whether blog commenting or forum, but can't even remember what it was.

    Any suggestions well-appreciated.

Take what you know of onsite seo and look for free websites like blogger, word press, or any other. Then apply your knowledge of onsite seo and implement it on those sites and include anchor text links.

Scrapebox is a cheap tool and can be powerful in finding links to post comments to, amongst other things.

heh, I was going to mention that but I figured he might be too green for scrapebox just yet. The tool does open a huge door into the world of SEO.

Although you can find links manually, a tool like scapebox could help you find links 100 times easier. One of the most important parts about finding back links is finding the right footprints. Try doing a search on the forum on scraping links with scrapebox.

Green means new or fresh. I was referring to:
    No pun intended.

Scrapebox is the first tool I ever purchased. you can find it on here for 57 bux I think. It allows you to harvest, comment, check, and ping websites. With that said lets say you wanted to post on all wordpress websites. You could use a footprint like keyword "powered by wordpress" and it will find all the wordpress blogs with those keywords. Lets say you wanted to create social network sites and point them to your money site. You could use a footprint such as keyword "powered by buddypress" and it will give you a list of websites from buddy press.

You can take it a step further and filter out all the low pr websites so you have a list of high pr sites you could create articles on.

When I say it opens a door to the world of seo I mean it will increase your performance dramatically.

if you are learning off page SEO, I don't think blasting randomly with scrapebox is a good idea at all. First start by doing things manually, and get familiar with different kinds of link building and their effects on rankings. Then once you have some understanding of what is PR, DA, PA, nof0ll0w, OBL, and other such link building jargon, look to tools to assist you in your efforts.

tools don't rank websites, they just help SEOs to rank.
