Hey
Just wanted to get some clarification on some of the offline methods I have been reading lately. I have mostly been looking at the mail out methods for SEO services, Google Maps Placements, Google Places etc. If they are really charging their clients $300-500+ per month for those services what is the real break down of work for that?

My point is, you have the client paying that money every month. Its great for you, but what do you have to do to keep the client satisfied? Do you outsource the work, then make your staff produce monthly reports showing progress? I noted some say it takes a few weeks/months before they see results, so the client's just suck it up and pay and wait for results or? What happens in the case your outsourcing staff aren't able push the client up there in the rankings?

Just a thought..

Just jot down where they are ranked when you start, and write it down on your calender. 30 days ahead on your calender write down "collect second payment". With that visiual on your end, you should be reminded to continue optimizing the place page. As you should know, there are many many things you can do to enhance the listing.

So, make sure the client is fully aware where the project started. Be able to show them progress along the way and they will be pleased. Yes it can take a few months to get that optimal 3rd-1st place listing BUT your page should still be moving up the ranks way before that. Thats what they are paying for... the continued rise in rank for the page, and then when it gets to the top trust me.... they are more then happy to pay to keep it ranked there.

The goal is to provide your clients with continuous link building and Google Places optimization. And that's where the monthly charge comes from. SEO should be a continuous process. If you move your client from the 50th spot in Google for a term to the 1st page, that doesn't mean you just stop. You need to keep them there and also try to rank them for new keywords as well. So basically, just keep providing your services for the clients and you can justify monthly charges.

Improving the rank and then maintaining the consistency in keeping the rank, is what you are being paid for. So even if you outsource the work you must show the results otherwise the clients will be unhappy.
Also be very selective in outsourcing the work and choose trusted ones only.

thanks all for the responses.

so basically every 30 days you would produce a Google Analytics (or similar) report and email/send it to the client along with an invoice?

Well, be prepared morally to a lots hustle when the needed result is not delivered
