Just wanted other peoples opinions after a recent issue I've had. Basically a BH Marketer/Spammer added my skype to his skype bot, which added me as a friend 3 - 4 times a day on multiple different accounts, each time just sending me a message telling me to check his cam site on his referral link if I replied.

Now I am ok getting onto peoples lists by accident, but I messaged back asking for him to remove me and that I was on BHW as well. I put up with it for 2 weeks, and today decided he was taking the absolute piss out of me as I did not click his link, even though he had sent it to me 50 times (any sane marketer would be tracking clicks).

Anyways, today I have just had his affiliate account closed with the network. Do you think I did enough to try and avoid having to do this? Or is there something I could have done that I missed?

    I look forward to opinions.

There is Black Hat ... then there is Dunce Hat.

If the operator was doing enough to be on your radar, they were the latter.
I would have done the same thing...probably worse.

In fact a long time ago, like 1990 or so, I kept getting about 28 emails a day
from some company. Some of my freinds at work were, too. This company
was stupid enough to put their Toll Free 800 number in the email.

Eventually I called it and left a message ...said I was the president of a syndicated group of radio stations (didn't say which one) and that if I got ONE MORE SPAM
EMAIL from them after ( a date two days afterward ), I would direct ALL of my DJ's & Hosts to read the following message every hour on a rotation ...so that one sttion would be reading it every 5 minutes to a listener base of 1 million persons plus.

"Don't you hate spam email and those unsolicited telemarketer calls that get you
at dinner or when you're trying to watch TV? Well I keep getting this email from
a company who want me to buy from them and no matter what I do I can't get
them to stop mailing me... so I am asking everyone to please dial their 800 number
and just leave your phone off the hook so that it ties up all their ordering lines -
kinda like spam calling. 1-800 ...."

Then I explained that "While the call is free to the caller, it costs you between
5 and 30 cents per minute and you probably have about 100 lines available in
queue ... so if I can get 1 million people to call you every hour at 10 cents per
minute, then that's $10,000 per hour you will owe the phone company every
hour.... and I will do this until I stop getting your email. "

I also did not tell them what "my" email address was.

After that week, me nor my friends got any more spam email from them.

chances are hes scraping the internet and forums like this for listed skype addresses - and i doubt hes taking the time to check the messages back from everyone, so its not that hes ignoring you. Just ignore/report spam. Life goes on.

Just smile knowing that hes wasting time & money and resources on someone who wont ever make him any money ;)

My father-in-law told me about a story one time where he was getting fax spam (back in the day) and wasn't happy that they kept using up supplies on his end (paper, toner...etc) not to mention the hassle of getting fax spam.

He faxed back a couple professional request but they wouldn't take him off the list. For the next week, after hours, he taped together a couple of pieces of black construction paper together and when the one end came out of the fax he taped it to the end of the first piece forming a loop. It basically sent a never ending black fax, using up a toner cartridge on their end each night. He then sent another request, mentioning the never ending faxes he'd continue to send and got promptly removed. Sometimes you can try as hard as you want but you have to just hit them between the eyes before anything gets done.

You know I love some of the ideas here, they don't use the same account, so the only thing I could go after was their affiliate account.

And they are still spamming me, I wonder if they will even realise their account is dead...

Ha reminds me of this lady i knew. She got ripped off by some company, was only a small amount, well actually probably more like $100. Anyways i was friends with her daughter, and every time i went around there the fax machine was always running 24/7. Well anyway this is in her words what she was doing "Since they ripped me off, Im getting my money back in paper and ink".

I went around there over a 2/3 month period and she was sending the faxes just non stop.
